As it turns out, US President Donald Trump is suspiciously similar to a certain character in Seinfeld. Is this a sign that the show should reboot?
Should a ‘Seinfeld’ reboot happen? Ask the universe, as it seems to be sending out very positive signs. One of the most iconic shows of the 90s and a precursor to TV series such as Friends, Seinfeld was a breakout sitcom that influenced other comedy shows and the larger popular culture. Purportedly about “nothing”, the show focused on comedian Jerry Seinfeld as a fictionalised version of himself and on his group of friends living in New York City. The show ran for nine seasons, and subsequently there have been several nudges to the show-makers to reboot the sitcom. But this has been to no avail – yet.

- Donald Trump resembles a character in ‘Seinfeld’
- Is Jerry Seinfeld keen on a reboot?
Now, a video has surfaced of America’s President Donald Trump, in which he appears to be acting suspiciously similar to a character from Seinfeld that you will not even dream about: the Soup Nazi.
As this created immediate buzz on the internet, could it be an indication – or even a possible hint from the President himself – that a Seinfeld reboot should be in the works?
Donald Trump resembles a character from Seinfeld
Season 7, episode 6 of Seinfeld features a character called the Soup Nazi, who was a soup vendor and apparently had very strict rules of conduct for customers ordering from him. In the episode, Jerry is faced with choosing his girlfriend, or the Soup Nazi’s soup. Except, this soup is supposed to be the most one ever.

A video, shot in July, surfaced on the internet recently, in which the US President can be seen going on a rant about soups. Trump says,
“And you have people coming over with bags of soup — big bags of soup. And they lay it on the ground, and the anarchists take it and they start throwing it at our cops, at our police.”
He’s talking about makeshift weapons thrown at the police such as bottles of water, and soup cans.
Trump’s soup rant put to mind the character of the Soup Nazi for everyone. With this renewed interest in the character and the focus on the show, may we dare hope for a Seinfeld reboot now?
Is Jerry Seinfeld keen on a reboot?
Jerry Seinfeld, who both co-created the show and starred in it, has been asked multiple times if a reboot would be happening. Mostly, he has just dismissed the question, and saying, like in this interview of his: “Maybe it’s nice that you continue to love it instead of us tampering with something that went pretty well.”
However, Ellen DeGeneres asked him the same question on her show a year later, telling him that since we’re living in an era when other old shows such as Roseanne are getting rebooted, how likely a Seinfeld reboot would be. And to that, Jerry said two very hope-inducing words: “It’s possible.”
Now that President Trump has also (kind of) given a thumbs up for a reboot, we think the time is right. Don’t look at us, blame the universe for all these signs.
