Firstly, Colt hasn’t seen his father Beau in 15 years so his family dynamic isn’t the best. To top that, he finds himself torn between his present girlfriend and Abby, his high school sweetheart. The sitcom reunited Kutcher with his ‘That ‘70s Show’ co-star Danny Masterson, and also starred Sam Elliott, Debra Winger, and Elisha Cuthbert.
‘The Ranch’ Part 8 premiered in January 2020 and ever since fans have been hoping for part 9. Ashton Kutcher previously announced that part 8 would be the end of the series, but whether the series has been cancelled is a question that looms over the large fanbase.

Danny Masterson was fired, and will not be returning
The actor’s character Rooster was written off the show in a disgraceful way that didn’t address the seriousness of his actions. The multi-camera sitcom had more than one problematic moment, but none of them amounted to their casting of Masterson.
The actor was fired from the ‘The Ranch’ in December 2017 after he was accused of rape by three different women. The long-running comedy needed to address his departure from the show, but an ambiguous ending allowing his return isn’t what we had in mind.

The character was written out of ‘The Ranch’, but for viewers oblivious to what has happened off-screen, the ending is nonsensical. It’s easily implied that his character could return at any given point in the future. Is that really the kind of message they’d like to send? All we know is that Danny Masterson isn’t welcome to return in ‘The Ranch’ Part 9 if it ever happens.
Is ‘The Ranch’ Part 9 cancelled?
The sitcom has been popular ever since it first aired on Netflix in 2016. It spanned 80 episodes on the streaming service, providing Kutcher with a perfect vessel to own his oafish charm. Fans are anticipating positive news surrounding the development of ‘The Ranch’ part 9, but Ashton Kutcher has already made a revelation.
In 2019, he penned to Twitter:
“@theranchnetflix is coming to an end, but not just yet. We’re excited to bring you the final 20 episodes — 10 streaming later this year (2019) on @netflix, and then 10 more in 2020. Stay tuned!”
Ashton Kutcher reveals why ‘The Ranch’ ended
‘The Ranch’ Part 9 might not be a possibility, but the series already holds the impressive title of the longest-running Netflix original multi-cam comedy series. Ashton Kutcher also gave fans clarity on the team’s decision to end the show, in an interview with Marc Maron.
According to “TV Insider”, Kutcher indicated that the cast and crew were notified in advance about the series ending. They had more than enough time to prepare for the end of ‘The Ranch’, a show loved by all.
“The story was told“, Kutcher shared.
“I love everything that we did. Everybody there was still highly in love with each other … We got to the point where we were able to let everybody know this was the last season, and that we were going to wrap it up, so everybody had time to find their next gig.”
“Netflix owns the show“, he added,
“So it’s not like there was this big syndication boon that’s going to come if we shoot two more seasons. I’ve been on shows where you keep going, and you keep going … and then you’ve got a brother who’s a gorilla”
He said, referring to a ‘Two and a Half Men‘ plotline involving his character Walden Schmidt.
