Lucifer-Constantine spinoff was decided by CW ever since the duo met on a crossover episode of Arrow- Crisis of Infinite Earth. Their small conversation opened doors for another Arrowverse series around Lucifer and Constantine and CW has given its thumbs up.

When Tom Ellis aka Lucifer officially became a part of Arrowverse
Tom Ellis maintained a low profile on any information of his cameo on Arrowverse. When fans flashed photographs from the sets of Arrow as a proof, he denied then straightaway. He did not want to spoil the surprise till the last moment.

Later on Tom wrote a full-fledged apology letter on Twitter for lying about his appearance. Now it is official that Lucifer is the new entrant of Arrowverse. The studio giant wants to experiment with Lucifer, the king of Hell and Constantine, the master of Dark Arts.
During the crossover event of Crisis of the Infinite Earths– John Constantine (Matt Ryan) brings John Diggle (Matt Ryan) and Mia Smoak Green to meet Lucifer. As a master of Dark Arts, Constantine chatted with various antics he has gotten up to Lucifer in the past.
The conversation happens in a timeline before Lucifer season 1. Lucifer, as we all know is on a vacation in Los Angeles giving up his duties as King of Hell. Season 1 begins after Lucifer has spent 5 years in LA.
Currently, Lucifer has returned to Hell to save Los Angeles after season 4. Season 5 will see Lucifer taking up the throne of Hell.

The showrunner of Lucifer Joe Henderson was in awe of the crossover episode. By watching the Constantine and Lucifer scenes, Joe has a spin-off in his mind that he would like to explore.

He spoke with Entertainment weekly on the possible spin-off for Lucifer and Constantine. He was quoted as saying—
“I have theories [about Lucifer and Constantine’s relationship] and we should explore it in the spin-off.”
Joe Henderson was too impressed with the crossover scene that he went on to say—
“By the way,” he added “Credit where credit is due. That scene, we only added two things to it. One, I pitched the flirt joke, which Tom surprised the actor who plays Diggle with.”
“I wish we’d been covering his side because you got a great reaction from him.”
He continued: “I thought they did such a wonderful job of capturing the voice, knowing how to write Lucifer, because Lauren Certo watches the show, is a fan of it, wrote our Lucifer, which was lovely.”
It is reported that even CW has given a thumbs up to the potential spinoff around the devil and the warlock.
Release date of Arrowverse’s Lucifer-Constantine spin-off
The spin-off series around Lucifer and Constantine is still under consideration. The chances of CW taking up the project is high. Though there is no official announcement yet one can expect the spin-off getting a green signal for production after the lockdown ends.
Currently, the shutdown of production due to Coronavirus has impacted the schedule of pre-announced series. Lucifer season 5 is ready to be released soon. After the death of Oliver Queen, CW wants to establish a lead that can take Arrowverse on its soldiers. Charming Devil Lucifer is an absolute fit. The spin-off around Constantine and Lucifer will seal the place of Lucifer on Arrowverse.
