All Castlevania fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Your favourite show is in for a season 4. On March 27, Netflix’s official handle took to its Twitter handle to announce the news.

After the announcement, according to Den of Geek, the creator, Ellis, wrote,“Extra special thanks to all the people who have been tweeting ‘it’s been 84 years’ at me since 2018 who are now tweeting ‘but what about Season 4.’” Ellis shared that some fans are already asking him about a potential fifth season. “Now people are asking about Season FIVE in what I can only assume is an attempt to destroy my mind.”
All about Castlevania
Based on Konami’s long-running gothic fantasy video game franchise of the same name, the first season of Castlevania premiered back in 2017. It is one of the oldest and longest running, and arguably one of the best video game adaptations of all time.
For Season 1, the Warren Ellis’s adaptation could bring only 4 episodes to the table. However, after the team came together— Trevor Belmont, Sypha Belnades, and Alucard — Season 2 saw eight action-packed videos.
The streaming service aired season 3 of the show in early March, 2020. The latest season kept up with the expectations of the earlier seasons, and gave power-packed episodes of the highest quality and a great storyline. The announcement for the fourth season came just some days after the release of season 3.
However, the announcement of season 4 wasn’t a complete surprise for fans. Considering the kind of cliff-hangers and plot threads the third season left behind for the land of Wallachia, it was quite expected that a season 4 was to happen.
Based on the previous seasons of the show, a prediction can be made— considering it was roughly a 15 month gap before season 2 came and a 16 month gap before season 3 arrived, going by the calculations, season 4 can drop anytime between the June and December of 2021.
Will Castlevania be delayed?
While we wait for the battle between good and evil in the next season, there are quite many possible reasons for the delay of the show.

The show’s executive producer, Adi Shankar may find his schedule in a bit of a hassle. With Shankar working on his new show Devil May Cry and his financial investment in the same, he doesn’t have much time to spare. Talking about the show in an interview with “IGN”, the producer said, “really over-performed. It did crazy well. We immediately got greenlit for season 3.” He added, “I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for the fans.”
While we hope Netflix fast-tracks the show’s production, we would rather wait and not rush it, because with Castlevania comes unmatched quality, crazy fight sequences and some interesting mystery.
Possible plotline and character sketch
We can expect season 4 to be more about Alucard who is now aware of his vampire genes and other supernatural powers. We can also expect Carmilla to be the hero of the season with her ‘Corridor pen plan’ in action with Hector.
With every passing season, Castlevania’s characters keep becoming more real. Coming from a land of comics and novels, Ellis had to take twice the effort to draft a storyline that will keep the readers hooked, while keeping the prime theme same.
The story took a major twist when in a scene between Dracula and the iconic characters, the former dies with a stake in the heart from his own son in season 2. However, later it proves that the death of the vampire is just the beginning of another adventure, written by Warren Ellis, directed by Sam Deats, and show-runner Kevin Kolde.
With his death, many hidden monsters have started coming out, including Carmilla and her three female cohorts. Hence, if it follows the gothic horror video game, we are all set to see more demon hunting.
Though we do not have any official announcement on who will be returning as the voice cast of the show, we can presume that the main stars will remain the same — Richard Armitage for Trevor, James Callis as Adrian, Graham McTavish as Vlad Dracula and Emily Swallow as Lisa. We could also expect new voices like Bill Nighy as Saint Germain.
So, what according to you is in store for the show? Will the Lord of Darkness be back? Will he be resurrected though the corridor of hell? After all, its Castlevania we are talking about— and resurrection is the oldest trick in the Castlevania book.
