‘Castle’ has formally been renewed for another blockbuster season. However, there are a lot of surprises in stock as the show is all set to have brand new cast members in their upcoming season 9.
Andrew W. Marlowe’s ‘Castle’ greatly consolidated components of crime, dramatization, and satire together. Its capacity to make carefree discussions in any event, even during intense scenes, was what pulled the viewers in.
Highlights:
- Why is ‘Castle’ a must-watch?
- What happened in the last few seasons?
- What is the current scenario? Is ‘Castle’ coming back?
The series was also consistently in news for the on-screen affection between Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, which turned out to be a significant selling point for the show.
ABC decided to cancel ‘Castle’ a while back due to budget cuts. But finally, the network is all set to bring back the series with a twist in their cast soon!
ABC Studios has settled another negotiation with Seamus Dever (otherwise known as Detective Ryan) to return for an expected 9th season. Along with Jon Huertas (Esposito), Molly Quinn (Alexis), Susan Sullivan (Martha), and Toks Olagundoye (Hayley).
Why is ‘Castle’ a must-watch?
The series spun around crime analyst Kate Beckett (Katic) who had been pushed to work with a joyful author Richard Castle (Fillion) after a crime following one of his novels takes place.
It started with her despising Castle towards the start, however, in the long run, Beckett got used to him. Before long, Castle turned into a customary expert for the NYPD and discovered hidden sentiments towards her.

‘Castle’ opened up to an extraordinary reaction in 2009 and saw great appraisals all through its broadcast.
There was news that the show would be back for season 9, though with Katic and Tamala Jones declining to return for another season, and other internal difficulties.
ABC chose to drop the show after its 8th season. This has now changed as Seamus Dever has been expected to return for the 9th season. Along with Jon Huertas, Molly Quinn, Susan Sullivan, Toks Olagundoye along with a partially new cast to keep the exciting show going.

What happened towards the end of the last few seasons?
Fans who were watching ‘Castle’ are familiar with the turmoil encompassing season 8 and the chance of a season 9 in 2016. Toward the end of season 7, the contracts of the cast members lapsed, and the creators chose to re-establish them for another season.
It was said that during the shooting of season 8, the condition between Fillion and Katic was so terrible that they were going to counselling together. In 2016, the supervisors at ABC began talking about a forthcoming season 9, and Katic ended up quitting due to her acrid relationship with the creators and the main lead during this time.
In view of that, the creators initially thought of proceeding with another season without Katic. However, this was struck down and they began conceptualizing a season without some of the old cast members. However, in the end, all these talks fell through and the series was cancelled for good.
Due to this rushed choice, the creators, rather than a proper ending or completion of the series, had to end with a back-up consummation. The whole season saw the two leads searching for a dangerous entity called LokSat to vanquish him. In the finale, they discovered who was driving the substance and brought him down. However, they were betrayed by their own source who shot at them. But the ending was shown out to be happy and, well, let’s just say it all worked out for good.
What is the current scenario? Is ‘Castle’ coming back?
Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter took over from David Amman as showrunners.
They’re currently in a complicated scenario as they need to create a beautiful set-up for season 9 out of the confusing yet happy ending of season 8.
ABC president Lee has expressed genuine interest in wanting to continue with ‘Castle’ and, at the moment, they are finding out new ways to make sure that they can continue the series with an exciting, new twist.
In an interview with “TVLine”, Lee said he didn’t “want to give a glimpse to what those ideas might be”, but was “feeling optimistic that we’ve got some good ideas”.
The poor relationship between the main leads makes it impossible for these two to be seen together again on-screen. Hence, the show is only possible with new cast members and surprising twists. Fans can simply wait and see what the executives at ABC decide regarding the show, but for now, we aren’t sure when it will hit the screens. Guess all we can do is wait.
