The Big Bang theory has been one of the most-watched TV shows since it was premiered in 2007. But Just like any other show, even The Big Bang Theory has some serious plot holes.
- Sheldon is neither a Pisces or a Taurus
- Raj is married to a beauty pageant
- Jim Parson almost didn’t get the lead as Sheldon Cooper
Throughout the twelve seasons, the audience has witnessed the misadventures of Leonard, Sheldon, Howard and Raj who are also joined by their girlfriends Penny, Amy, and Bernadette respectively.
While most TV shows and movies are bound to have a few plot holes, The Big Bang Theory has some serious plot holes that definitely can’t be unseen. Read on to find out.
Sheldon isn’t a Pisces, or is he?
It is a known fact that Sheldon and his twin sister Missy were born inside of a Walmart on February 26th 1980. However, in Season 1 episode 16, Sheldon explains why horoscopes are untrue, to which Penny replies, “you are a typical Taurus.”
If Sheldon were a Taurus it would mean that his birthday would be some day between April 20th and May 20th. But then in season 8, Penny corrects herself by calling him a Pisces.
Penny forgets her dad’s name
In Season 3 episode 11, Leonard’s mother comes to visit him when incidentally Penny happens to mention her father’s name as Bob. Many episodes later, Penny’s father visits her but somehow he introduces himself as Wyatt. Did penny really forget her own Father’s name or was this another plot hole?
Raj is not afraid of women anymore
Raj’s IQ is very close to Sheldon’s but unlike rest of the gang, he’s too afraid to talk to women until he isn’t anymore. The writers meant for Kunal Nayyer’s character to be the shy, awkward, the-one-who-doesn’t-speak-to-women kind of guy.
But seven episodes in to the show, the audience notice how Raj has begun to get comfortable with Penny which eventually becomes confusing. Unlike his on-screen role, Kunal definitely hasn’t had a problem finding love as he is married to former Beauty Queen Neha Kapur.
Howard cannot be an astronaut
When Howard received exciting news about his selection to be an astronaut, the writers forgot that the character on several occasions has mentioned about his nut allergy, high risk of heart disease, seasickness, and arrhythmia, making it impossible for him to become an astronaut.
Perhaps the writers didn’t think the audience would be smart enough to figure this one out. Too bad, we did anyway.
Sheldon’s dad is Leonard’s bully
Yes, you read that right! If you’ve watched Young Sheldon, it is quite clear that Larry Barber who plays George Cooper Sr. in Young Sheldon also shows up as Leonard’s bully from high school in The Big Bang Theory.
While Barber has played both parts well, it didn’t make sense to have him play very distinct, opposite roles.
The Roommate agreements are often broken
As much as the roommate agreements sound cool, they have been broken quite a few times. For instance, Leonard brought over women to their apartment several times despite the clause that mentions that Sheldon must be informed 12 hours in advance if Leonard intends to bring a guest over.
This being said, Sheldon did bring 6 cats, whereas according to one of the clauses, only cybernetically-enhanced helper moneys and seeing-eye dogs are the only pets allowed.
Despite the Plot holes, the show has created a huge fan base for itself. Did you know, Jim Parson almost lost his role as Sheldon to Johnny Galecki? When the writers approached Galecki to play the role, he told them that he would rather play Leonard as he felt most connected to him. That’s when the hunt for someone to play Sheldon began. Alas! They found Jim Parson.
