To rejoice or cry? Is Ben Affleck really exiting the DCEU and ‘Batman’ to join hands with Disney?
It hasn’t been long since Ben Affleck turned his back on the role of Batman. After he confirmed his departure from the DC Extended Universe, Warner Bros. announced that the director Matt Reeves would be looking for a new actor to play “The Batman”. Following that, rumours of Ben Affleck joining Disney by quitting Batman started gaining heat.
It was on Jimmy Kimmel’s Live show when Ben first opened up about his exit from the DCEU –
“I tried to direct a version of it and worked with a really good screenwriter but just couldn’t come up with a version”
Affleck said about what led him to put down the caped-crusader costume.
“I couldn’t crack it and so I thought it’s time for someone else to take a shot at it. They got some really good people, so I’m excited.”
But, recently, there have been rumors that Ben Affleck might wear the Batman suit again in ‘The Flash’ – what about working with Disney then? Are these rumours true?

Ben Affleck’s future: DCEU’s Batman or Disney?
Ben Affleck has signed on to co-write and direct an adaptation of Shannon Messenger’s ‘Keeping of the Lost Cities’ for Disney. It is a story about a 12-years old girl with the ability to read minds, and who discovers that she is from a parallel universe.
This movie can roughly be categorized as YA fiction, and that’s why it has us thinking about Affleck’s decision to direct it. Don’t get us wrong. This is good news, to be sure, but it’s a subject that calls for attention. Anyway, Affleck has the glow of an Oscar winner, and it seems Disney is banking on him.
Batman awaits Ben Affleck as he promises to join DC post his Disney venture.
According to a few sources, if Ben Affleck pulls off this Disney movie, he might again be on the table for the caped character, yes you guessed it right – “The Batman”. Then again, if Affleck wants to return to the DCEU, why did he leave it in the first place?
Affleck explains exiting the DCEU and Batman
Last year, in an interview with “The New York Times”, Ben Affleck revealed that it was due to his struggles with alcohol and his divorce from Jennifer Garner that led him to leave the franchise and Batman and explore other areas such as working with Disney.
When he stepped down from being Batman, he said it was not because he was leaving the character behind but he wanted to spend exclusive time focusing on the character. He also said that there’s a misconception that because he’s not directing it, he’s not doing it. Now, does that mean Ben Affleck’s future in the DCEU is secured? We wish it is!

The world seemed to shake when Ben Affleck turned his back on the role of Batman to direct a Disney movie ‘Keeper of the Lost Cities’. But, as the rumours have it, he is making a comeback in writer/director Andy Muschietti’s ‘The Flash’.
There’s no telling what announcement could come next, but we are keeping our ears extra fine-tuned for any updates. ‘The Flash’ still has time to get its bats in a row before it zooms into theatres in 2022.
