What is the American TV drama all about?
‘Billions’ is an American television drama series created by Brian Koppelman, David Levien, and Andrew Ross Sorkin. The show first aired on Showtime, in January 2016, and has, since then, produced five seasons for a total of 54 episodes.
The series tells the story of hedge fund manager Bobby Axelrod (Damian Lewis), its main protagonist, as he accumulates wealth and power in the world of high finance. Axelrod’s aggressive tactics to secure high investment returns frequently cross over into the illegal world, acts which United States Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) attempts to prosecute.
‘Billions’ is considered to be the first American TV series to have a non-binary character (Taylor Mason). As such it was nominated for ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ in the 29th, 30th, 31st GLAAD Media Awards, for its representation of the LGBTQ community.
What has season 5 been about so far?
Season 5 premiered on May 3, 2020. And since then, the audience has been able to enjoy six episodes as of yet. While the release dates for two more episodes have been announced, the remaining episodes’ details are yet to be published.

In the season premiere, the audience saw Bobby Axelrod reach a major milestone. Meanwhile, Chuck struggles to get his bearings, and he and Wendy navigate through a new normal. Taylor Mason’s return creates high tension at Axe Cap. Axe faces off against new rival Mike Prince and chases a play at Mike Prince’s conference. Chuck wrestles with his demons and chooses a new path which allows Wendy to take the lead as Axe Cap faces a threat.

While Chuck returns to his alma mater to pursue an opportunity, Axe’s big venture is sidelined by a family crisis. In the third episode, the audience sees him making a new move that takes him back to his roots but puts him in Mike Prince’s line of fire.
Chuck steps into a new role and meets an intriguing colleague which further puts Wendy in an awkward position. As Taylor tries to salvage a missed opportunity, Wendy takes an interesting new client.
The fifth and sixth episodes intensify as Chuck plots against Axe with the help of some old associates, and eventually wages war on a new front, but a dangerous gambit tests his budding relationship. With Chuck and Wendy moving on, the latter and Taylor embark on a new venture.
When will season 6 release?
A seven-day gap between each episode’s release is being implied. This means, the upcoming episodes of season 5 will release on 14 June, 21 June, 28 June, 5 July, and so on. So if all goes well, the current running season will ideally end by the end of July.
