Even though it’s an adaptation, the series has managed to preserve the spirit of the video games while creating its own name. It breathes life into Dracula’s story, a feat that many have failed to do in the past. So, naturally, the show’s first three seasons were very well-received by fans, and Netflix decided to renew it for a fourth! Fans have been waiting for an update on ‘Castlevania’ Season 4 for a few months now, and there’s finally an update! Keep reading to find out more about it!
‘Castlevania’ has been renewed for season 4
Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed that ‘Castlevania’ Season 4 would be a reality! The good news arrived just two weeks after the third season premiered and fans were overjoyed. The series follows Trevor Belmont as he tries to save Eastern Europe from the inevitable extinction that waits for them at the hands of Vlad Dracula Tepes.
It’s a human’s fight for survival and a vampire’s fight to eradicate them. The first two seasons followed Trevor and his comrades on their journey to save the human world from the dangerous Dracula. The third, as promised, showcased more mystery, mayhem, murder, and vampires than the first two did.
So, when ‘Castlevania’ Season 4 was confirmed, fans were excited to see where the story would find itself! The series has been surrounded with controversy ever since showrunner Warren Ellis was accused of sexual misconduct. He will reportedly not be involved with the show’s future seasons if Netflix decides that renewal is in order in the future.
What the cast is saying about the new season
Fans of the show have been waiting to hear an update ever since ‘Castlevania’ was renewed for a new season. Right after the big announcement, the COVID-19 imposed filming restrictions struck production houses across the globe. It was impossible for the cast and crew of ‘Castlevania’ Season 4 to share an update on their filming schedules before, but that has changed now!
In an exclusive interview with “Digital Spy“, ‘Castlevania’ star Jessica Brown Findlay explained that she heard nothing about working on the fourth season. When asked about plans for her character in season 4, or the story, she said,
“Oooh, is it? I haven’t heard anything, so I’m not sure”.
“Right now, life for me feels very far away from work. Yeah, I have no idea. That would be great, but I accept, yes, please now”. The actor hadn’t heard about the status of the new season, but the show’s director offered some much-needed clarity!
Samuel Deats, the director of ‘Castlevania’ confirmed that the show was already in production, in a tweet posted to his Twitter account. “We’re well into S4 production and everything’s going smoothly!” Well, if that isn’t good news, we don’t know what is!
Why you should watch ‘Castlevania’ before the new season comes out!
If you’ve never had the opportunity to acquaint yourself with anime and want to binge-watch one, this is it! ‘Castlevania’ might feature graphic themes of violence and gore, but the story wears a heart on its sleeves.
There’s clever foreshadowing, the church versus science theme is genius, it’s dark but it has golden moments of plain, witty humour. It’s Dracula’s story at its best and talks about magic, science, religion, and superstition while drawing a line between all. The show is built on the lore of video games, but there’s so much room for creative freedom. There’s character development you get to see first hand, the villains are brilliant, and it’s worth your time. Just as fans say, it’s essentially the marriage of ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘The Witcher’, but better.
