Uber Launches ‘Quiet Mode’ For When You Want Your Driver To Shut Up
Ever called for an Uber after a long, tiring day and realized the driver was being too chatty? You can take a break from drivers who go on to give you a tour of the city unasked with a simple yet subtle new feature.
Uber recently announced a new feature where users can tick a checkbox and the app will tell the driver to keep quiet during the ride.
Uber Black and Uber Black SUV riders in the US will now be able to enable the “Quiet Mode” to politely indicate you need some quiet on your way to your destination, the official blog explains.

Uber has released a statement saying: “Over the years, Uber has expanded mobility by delivering new modes of transportation whenever riders need it. Today, we’re rolling out a new, enhanced set of features for Uber Black and Uber Black SUV, the original luxury experiences where it all started.
“If you need to respond to emails or are in the mood for a nap, make your trip a quieter one with just one tap. If you’re in the mood to chat, that’s an option too.”
Drivers had also indicated that they wanted to understand the customer’s preferences in order to deliver optimal service.
“We know that when riders choose Uber Black and Uber Black SUV, they want a consistent, high-quality experience every time they ride. With these new features and more to come, we’re excited to ensure that our riders can arrive relaxed and refreshed, wherever they’re headed.” The Uber statement continues.
Users can choose from ‘Quiet Preferred’, ‘Happy to Chat’ or ‘No preference’ under the ‘Conversation’ heading in the app.
