Patriarchal Aunty judges who should get raped. And it all depends on their length of the dress.
Shocking and disgusting.
That’s what this news is. We are sad that we have to report an incident like this. But we need to bring this incident to light and spread it as much as we can. We need to highlight the sick mentality of a literate woman. A facebook post has recently gone viral and it describes, “This middle aged woman you’ll see in the video addressed seven men at the restaurant to rape us because she felt we deserved it for wearing short clothes…”

It was a horrific incident faced by Shivani Gupta while she was with her friends in a restaurant in Gurgaon. Allegedly, a middle-aged woman abused Shivani for wearing a short dress. When the friends stepped in to support her, they were told that they deserved to get raped. This was not the end of it all. According to Shivani’s post on Facebook, the lady went on to ask the seven men in the restaurant to ‘rape women like her’.
Control the girls, encourage the boys!
Shivani and her friends were courageous to follow the woman into a store asking her to apologise for her callous comments. But the lady was too proud of her comments and instead threatened to call the police. She further shamed womankind by looking straight into the camera and stating “You are recording na…Hello guys. This lady wants to wear short to short dress to encourage all to see them. All the ladies wear these short dresses… or naked… to rape… All the parents, please control the girls”
Naked under my Burqa.
As the video progressed, a girl asked the most important questions, “Those who wear suits and those who wear burqas and two year olds, do they not get raped?”
The She Devil.
How is it possible to have such a viewpoint even after being educated?
Her thoughts are way shorter than the length of even the shortest of dresses. Who exactly should be threatening to call the police? – The woman who gives a chance to apologise even after being verbally abused, or the misogynistic woman who asks men to commit the most heinous crime
of all.
Many incidents like this happen in India on a daily basis. And it is a matter of great shame for our community that the lady in the video is not the only woman who has such views. When women should be fighting as a united group against evils that haunt them all, some fragments are fixated on supporting the evil itself.
Nearing the end of the video, a suggestion was made to the patriarchal aunty “ask any man right now, who is wrong in this situation… forget about the women, ask all the men” And surely enough, when Shivani shared her incident on social media, men were equally shaken.
“girls who wear such short dresses want male attention . such girls should be raped ! aunty, you raped me with your thinking before men could even look at my bare things ”

The Mental Assault.
A rape is by definition a physical assault, but practically, it is a mental assault. It is already hard to imagine what a woman might go through. Such views and incidents make the topic of sexual assault even more tangled than it already is!
