People who do, live on the edge.
The edge is about clarity. Yes, it’s about a very special set of coordinates where we have an uninterrupted view of the horizon. An umpire’s neutral vision of either flank.
One that gives us a unique vantage point. To check if the winds are opportune. To confirm if the coast is clear. And take hard decisions. Decisions that hold the power to alter the course of our journey. Decisions that can’t wait.
When on the edge, destiny gives us very rare permission, a very rare privilege. To decide the course of history by taking a single step. And we have to honour that opportunity. By siding with our conviction. Listen to our within. And doing what we believe in.
If that means stepping over a body or two, so be it. If that means ruffling a few feathers, fine. It that means rubbing opinions and conventions the wrong way, amen. As long as we are aware of the etiquettes of appropriateness, and use that power selectively. As per the need of the hour.
When we don’t cross the line we fall of the edge. We lose our clarity, our personality, our purpose.
It’s perfectly fine to be rude now because there will be a moment later when we can explain ourselves. It’s perfectly fine to get on someone’s bad books now because we will get the opportunity later to justify our story. But that occasion isn’t today, it isn’t now. Today, it’s time to do.
The ability to cross the line selectively proves our inner steel. Risk appetite. Leadership quotient.
If we’re not crossing the line that’s designed to push someone else’s agenda, we’re stagnating. Letting defeat win. Giving over the reins of controls. And at precisely that moment, someone else starts writing our scripts. And we exchange centre-stage, with a seat somewhere behind. Way behind in the shadows.
Let every step we take articulate our big vision to the world. Let every act we undertake show the world why we’re in it. It won’t sound sweet to every ear. It can’t sit well with every soul. We cannot let that stop us in our tracks. The journey we’ve chosen for ourselves is too precious for that.
To create, we must re-create. To construct, we must destruct. Every time we ride roughshod over ‘the way it’s done’, we set a new standard. We take advantage of our vision from the edge, to show the world that there’s another way to get there. To reach the same destination.
A better one.
+ONE SHOT
- To construct, we must destruct.
- Lines are man-made. Let us be man enough to un-make them if the hour demands it.
