A quick recap of the finale episode of season 7 of ‘When Calls the Heart’
At the beginning of the episode, we see a scene between Lee and Rosemary, where Lee promises her that he will take things easy on his first day back to work. Right after this, Lee receives rather conflicting news about his sister coming to the valley. Then the episode focuses on Elizabeth where she hears the heartbreaking news about Fiona leaving the town. Elizabeth later comes to know that Lucas has withdrawn his investment.
The episode shifts focus to Lee and his sister having their meal together. Things turn a little awkward between them when she says that she would like to stay at a hotel instead of at their home. We are again shown a confrontation between Elizabeth and Lucas, where Lucas tries to explain to Elizabeth that he could not keep paying Henry out of his pocket. Elizabeth then apologizes to Lucas for not trusting him and believing in the half-baked story. The next day Elizabeth runs into Nathan, where he tries to ask Elizabeth out but keeps getting interrupted.
But it looks like there is a possible love triangle, as Lucas tells Elizabeth that they both should celebrate the signing of her book. Lucas tries to use this opportunity and decorates the entire room, with champagne and everything. Coming back to Lee and his sister, when Rosemary tells Susannah about Lee trying to kill himself, something inside Susannah makes her feel more empathetic towards her brother and we witness the same towards the end of the show when Susannah goes to meet Lee again and, this time, it was more than an awkward interaction.
Things start to look up a little for Nathan as well, as he finally gathers the courage to ask Elizabeth out. However, not everything was all glorious. We are shown a scene where Nathan and Bill are riding and someone shoots gunfire, leaving someone wounded. However, it was not Nathan as we see him stepping out and Elizabeth running towards him to hug him, bringing us closer to the end of the finale episode.
When will season 8 release?
The wait is finally over! Season 8 of ‘When Calls the Heart’ will hit our TV screens on 21 February, Sunday at 9 pm EST on the Hallmark channel. But this is not it, instead of 10 episodes, season 8 will bring 12 episodes along with it. Now, isn’t this perfect?
What can we expect from season 8?
One thing we know for sure is that season 8 is going to be a weird one. How can we say that? Well, Kavan Smith aka Lee, shared this with his fans on Instagram:
“Season 8 gonna be a weird one.”
Not just Kavan, the creator of the show also stated that the season will start with a boom. He said, “#Hearties… I just read the @WCTH_TV season 8 opener written by @brspndr and all I can say is … Boom”.
The segment of hints dropping doesn’t just stop here. Brain again tweeted something about the show in which he left the fans speculating about a possible love triangle between Elizabeth, Lucas, and Nathan. “And let me Spoon it this way … Decisions get made in Hope Valley. You’re welcome.”
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Hallmark channel spoke to them about a new family, the Canfield’s, heading to Hope Valley.
“Joseph Canfield (played by Viv Leacock) is trying to buy the town’s gas station, which causes some complications. His wife, Minnie, (played by Natasha Burnett), is very protective of their two children: Angela and Cooper, who are played by Leacock’s kids in real life. Minnie is tested when her children start taking Elizabeth’s class, causing her to question if she trusts their education in someone else’s hands.”
