History reveals why Vikings season 7 is underway
The Vikings TV series on History channel is inspired by sagas of legendary Norse Hero known as Viking Ragnar Lothbrok. Born a farmer, Ragnar rose to fame by successful raids into England, and eventually became a Scandinavian King, with the support of his family and fellow warriors. He is killed by King Aelle in part 2 of season 4.
Later seasons of Vikings follow the fortunes of his sons and their adventures in England, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. Some sections believe that Vikings season 7 will be more fiction than reality as there are no records to support the facts, which is untrue.
The series is a mix of history, sagas and semi-historical accounts of the Vikings available from medieval times. A bit of fiction was added to make a compelling story that ran 6 seasons.
If we look into the volume of history and myths around these notorious raiders and traders, Michael Hirst (creator) has just scratched the surface. It wouldn’t be fair to say the Vikings season 7 will turn the historical series into fictional drama. Hirst is currently busy with sequel series Vallahala that was announced by Netflix but Vikings season 7 is not off the table.
