The Emmy nominations just came in and the ‘Stranger Things’ cast took the many numbers of nominations with a pinch of salt. While the show snagged eight nominations, two lead actors were left out. Read on to know more.
The 72nd Emmy nominations were announced on 28th July, and Netflix added a casual, effortless 160 nominations to its crowing glory for various TV shows the streaming app has produced.
Highlights:
- ‘Stranger Things’ at Emmys: Hit but also miss
- The Emmys miss for ‘Stranger Things’
- Season 4 ‘Stranger Things’: When can we expect it?
It has more nominations than any other streaming platform or major studios, and if this doesn’t seal its fate as a towering production giant, who knows what will. One of the shows to lead the nomination category was also (of course) one of its beloved series- ‘Stranger Things’.

‘Stranger Things’ at Emmys: Hit but also miss
‘Stranger Things’ continues to be one of the biggest global hits that Netflix has produced or witnessed. A supernatural thriller set in the 80s, it focuses on an alternate universe called the ‘upside-down’ with a gang of kids saving the world from monsters.
Created by the Duffer Brothers, it transformed newcomer kids like Millie Bobby Brown into bonafide Hollywood stars and is the most streamed show on the platform. The show, which is three seasons old, has been the recipient of many Emmy nominations but this year marks one of the lowest it has ever received.

The show got eight nominations in the categories of- Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing For A Drama Series, Outstanding Interactive Extension Of A Linear Program, Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Special Visual Effects, Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour), Outstanding Stunt Coordination For A Drama Series, Limited Series Or Movie, Outstanding Music Supervision.
But these 8 nominations are proving to be a thorn in the rosebud, for some deserving of them have been left out.
The Emmys miss for ‘Stranger Things’
It seems like the Emmys have made it a habit to leave the cast out of nominations year after year, and no, it does not get any easier to watch deserving actors not get their due.
One such snub was actor David Harbour who plays fan-favourite Chief Hopper on the show. His work on the series has earned him global recognition. That is to say, he is very good at what he does. Harbour has transformed his character from an earnest sheriff to a loving and fighting man who will go into the depths of the earth for people he loves.
Another shocking snub belonged to actor Dacre Montgomery who plays Billy Hargrove on the show. It is hard to ignore his performance in ‘Stranger Things’ Season 3, where he took his character to the next level. From action to emotion, he put on a performance that was nothing short of an Emmy nomination, at least.
Even though Billy met his end in season 3, there is still hope for Chief Hopper to snag a nomination next year for season 4. But when is the upcoming season going to be released?

Season 4 ‘Stranger Things’: When can we expect it?
With millions of fans waiting for the show’s release and COVID-19 making sure that it won’t, a release date is on everyone’s mind right now. Fans were relieved when news of shooting commencing from 17th September was announced, but Duffer Brothers have made it clear that “the safety of cast and crew comes first”.
The shooting had begun in February 2020 and was closed down due to the pandemic breaking out. The condition in the United States is only getting worse, so, we might have to wait for a considerably long time before we get to revisit Hawkins, Indiana.
The teaser, which confirmed that Hopper is indeed alive and in Russia, has the fans excited for the next season.
Here is hoping that the next season finally does it for the Emmys and our Chief Hopper gets the recognition he deserves.
