Is Hulu making ‘Monsterland’ Season 2? What can the fans expect from the new season in case the rumours are true? Hulu hasn’t made an official statement about it but the predictions are optimistic.
‘Monsterland’ is an American eight-part drama-horror series produced by Hulu. The show happens in the United States, with all 8 episodes happening in a different city, each one with independent stories. The show was created by Mary Laws and was based on a short horror stories collection “North American Lake Monster: Stories by Nathan Ballingrud”.

What is the news about ‘Monsterland’ Season 2?
That is the main question fans are asking. The expectations for season 2 are really high but there are a few factors that may be crucial for a second season. It depends on how Hulu will handle the production, again because of Covid-19.
Another important question is what season 2 will be based on. The first season of the show was based on 9-part short stories. Most of these stories were covered in season 1 so Mary Laws will have to come up with either original stories, base themselves on another novel, or go ahead with the continuation of the ones told in the first season. The stories told in the first season will hardly have a continuation because of how the horror show is built. Tension is a major factor in the narratives. Some of the episodes do not have a clear ending, and some of those do not show the paranormal elements of the show in an explicit way.

Streaming services like Hulu usually wait a few months before the official announcement date to say if a show it’s coming back for season 2 or not. They do that because of the buzz that it creates in social media. The first season was released on October 2, 2020. We are probably going to have these answers a few months before October 2021, probably around Halloween.
Was season 1 a success?
‘Monsterland’ was an impressive and unexpected success. Mostly because horror shows are usually famous only inside their niche, but ‘Monsterland’ came in hot. The show caught the eyes of fans outside of the horror genre. That happened because of how well the show is produced and how diverse the stories are. The range of topics covered is huge and it is different in each episode. Some episodes show explicit paranormal activities, such as monsters and weird creatures, but, on the other hand, there are stories that the paranormal factor works as a metaphor of reality and represents a certain feeling or a bad situation.
It also became really popular because it is really well done. Hulu made sure that the cinematography, the casting, and the pace of the show are impeccable. Every aspect of the show works well together. Plus the fact that it is easy to identify ourselves with the problems the characters face in each episode, easily explains why ‘Monsterland’ was a success.
What can we expect from the plot in season 2?
This is the main reason why fans are questioning if the show was renewed by Hulu. It was a success but the show is based on the short stories we talked about before.
Since there is no storyline that goes beyond one episode, it would be easier for the fans to accept a change in the plot or how the stories are told.
‘Monsterland’, with its ‘Black Mirror’ style of narrative, would have to mess up a lot to lose the fandom it created after season 1.
What do you think as a fan? Do you believe ‘Monsterland’ will be back? Do you think it will be based on other stories? We will have to wait until October to have that answer!
