Looks like the hit sitcom Roseanne might be coming back for a season 11 amidst the backlash. And it’s spin-off series The Conners is as strong as ever with Season 3 renewal.
Even the best and most successful sitcoms can hit a roadblock and from there is no turning back. But if you can’t move forward, there can always be a different direction for you to take.
Such is the case with long-standing sitcom Roseanne and it’s ten very successful seasons that hit a roadblock and there was no turning back. But the network did take a left turn and decided to premiere a spin-off series The Conners.
- The Roseanne Less-Roseanne
- The Conners: Season 3
- Roseanne: The Queen Of Sitcom Before She Died
The Conners has proved to be a successful spin-off to the hit-show Roseanne sans the character of Roseanne Barr. Two seasons old The Conners has hit the right mark with it’s audience whether it be the comedy or the relationship between the close knit family.
And a season 3 for The Conners is all but inevitable. But amidst The Conners speculation, is Roseanne making a comeback with Season 11?
The Roseanne Less-Roseanne
Season 1 of The Conners debuted only three weeks after the season 10 finale of Roseanne. Roseanne Conner the beloved head of the family and wife of Dan (John Goodman) had passed away after a heart attack in her sleep. Only later it is revealed that she overdosed on some pills.
The reason for the cynical portrayal of Roseanne Barr’s character’s death after having served in a total of 231 episodes comes after a tweet by the actor was found extremely racist by the public. In the said tweet the actor compares the Ex-President of United States Barack Obama to an ape which she later explained was a Bad Joke. (Think before you speak, maybe?)
The network without much ado cancelled the successful 10 Season long sitcom and later announced it’s spin-off series The Conners. The Conners is already onto it’s third season but there are rumours that Roseanne itself could get a reboot too.
The Conners: Season 3
The show’s main creative team has revealed that Season 3 will definitely include the entire coronavirus storyline. That makes it the first TV show to confirm the current Pandemic a part of their storyline in the future.
The team further said that The Conners are a rare reflection on reality as a family who go through the good and bad of life together. So why would the case of fighting a Pandemic be any different.
And to give more detail to the plot they also added that someone in the family will take a job that no one else wants like working as an essential worker in a grocery store. Which is what American blue collar working families look like.
But what does that mean for Roseanne Season 11?
Roseanne: The Queen Of Sitcom Before She Died
There is no doubt that Roseanne was a highly successful sitcom garnering double digits million views week after week.
Before Roseanne Barr proved to be a Donald Trump supporter and tweeted a racist tweet which led to her getting fired from the show, Roseanne had been renewed for a 11th Season. Her character Roseanne Conner voting for Donald Trump had also received major backlash.
Not only that, an episode in Roseanne involving a Muslim family moving next-door to The Connors and Roseanne revealing her inner Xenophobia only to later realise her mistake received major backlash too.
So, a reboot for Roseanne does not look like’s in the cards considering how well the spin-off series The Conners seem to be doing. And as far as Roseanne Barr is concerned, well let’s just consider it lesson learned.
