Teen Wolf : It’s a world of the supernaturals
Romance, drama, supernatural creatures, comedy, action and horror are the ingredients one needs to make a successful paranormal teen drama. Teen Wolf told the story of Scott McCall (Tyler Posey), an ordinary high school student in Beacon Hills, who became a werewolf after being bitten by an Alpha.
The series began with this premise and moved forward focusing on his journey as he came to terms with it and began unravelling the supernatural underbelly of his town with the help of best friend, Stiles Stilinski (Dylan O’Brien). Other characters included Scott’s hunter girlfriend, Allison Argent (Crystal Reed) (seasons 1 – 3), Stiles’ love interest Lydia Martin (Holand Roden), coyote Malia Tate (Shelley Hennig), kitsune Kira Yukimura (Arden Cho), and young werewolf Liam Dunbar (Dylan Sprayberry).
The show featured supernatural creatures such as banshees, coyotes, kanimas, kitsunes and a lot more, but not vampires, which was a conscious decision made on part of the makers. The series culminated after six seasons, to the disappointment of fans around the world, who then started a petition for its renewal.
The season 6 finale – What happened?
Rotten Tomatoes gave the finale positive reviews saying,
“The full moon ends its lunar cycle in this fast-paced final season, bringing Teen Wolf to a narratively messy but emotionally satisfying conclusion.”
The finale was one hell of an episode. With Stiles, Derek, Jackson and Ethan returning, the power-packed episode was filled with thrills and a range of emotions. Much to the delight of fans, the ending was a happy one and none of the main characters died.
Creator Jeff Davis said that according to him, three things in the finale were important –
“One was that he have a funny scene with Derek, one was that he have a really awkward reunion with Lydia and Jackson…and the last one was that he had a really heroic moment, which was bursting in with the mountain ash. So I’m glad we got all those moments in, but one thing I really wanted to make sure, that we didn’t overshadow Scott’s story. 6A was really a story about Stiles and about the memory of Stiles and about the character Stiles, and with the finale, with 6B, we sat down, me and the writers, and I said, we’re not going to have Dylan O’Brien for this season, so let’s return our focus to the teen wolf, Scott McCall. And really make sure that we give him his ending.”

The show ended on an uplifting note, showing that this wasn’t the end and that the adventure was only going to continue for the characters, leaving enough scope for a future renewal. Davis revealed the reasoning behind this decision saying,
“It’s a battle between what kind of series finale do you want to do—the one where you kill half the cast and you say this is it, it’s over, it’s done, there’s no more to be said, or the one where you say the adventure continues? And I always felt like the latter was more in the style of the show.”
Teen Wolf Revival – Is it happening?
The speculation running rife is that the series will be back sometime in the near future. Actors Tyler Posey, Cody Christian and Colton Hayes have already expressed their desire to return for a reunion through their social media handles.
The revival will most likely show the characters as older people with Scott as the Alpha taking care of his pack, while continuing to work alongside Chris Argent and Stiles following in the footsteps of his father and becoming the new Sheriff, an idea given by O’Brien himself, as he was quoted saying, “I’ve been thinking during this, and I would like for him to have like, taken over as Sheriff. Linden, I mean, if you’re cool with being retired at this point. It hasn’t been that long. […] Alright, so I relieved my dad. I like the fact that I took over the Sheriff spot for Beacon Hills. And I refuse to drive a squad car, I drive a jeep. Yeah, and me and Tyler are stepbrothers, and that’s what we always wanted to be.”
It’s only a matter of wait. With the kind of response the cast has been giving, the series may return some time soon.
