Upside Down in Stranger Things is Eleven’s dream. Yes, this is true, everything in Stranger Things, including Upside Down, is nothing more than Eleven’s imagination.

What if, after believing in the threat Upside Down possess for over three seasons of Stranger Things, we tell you that it’s all a creation of Eleven’s mind. What if we tell you that Upside Down in Stranger Things is nothing more than just some pipe dream in Eleven’s mind. Or, it’s probably nothing more than the traumas of Eleven brought into the real world of Stranger Things by herself?

Sounds strange, right? How could that even be a thing? Well, just to remind you that the name of the show is Stranger Things, and most of the time we are either in the Dream of Eleven, as she searches for Mind Flayer or Demogorgon, or in the dream of Will when he is hunted by Mind Flayer.
So, it can be true that Upside Down and Mind Flayer in Stranger Things are nothing more than a result of Eleven’s creative brain.
What if Upside Down in Stranger Things isn’t real, but only El’s imagination?
Now, we aren’t saying that the entire show is a dream sequence. Neither we are saying that every threat we have experienced in Stranger Things, or will experience in Stranger Things 4, is no threat at all. Although both of these possibilities are probable realities in the show, we are talking about the possibility that can truly do justice to the story, and the name “Stranger Things” without making us feel like we wasted 4-5 years of our life.
We are claiming that every threat in Stranger Things, including Upside Down, is not only majorly faced by Eleven, but also created by Eleven, either in the form of her hallucinations, or a result of her trauma brought to life by herself after being experimented upon.
Upside Down – a Dream of Eleven in Stranger Things
Till now, other than on a few occasions, we have experienced the Upside Down through the dreams of either Eleven or Will the Wise. We see the weird world only when Eleven is searching for Mind Flayer with her eyes closed, or, Will dreaming in the day. Now, there are more than several instances when other characters like Nancy and Hopper have entered Upside Down. But it all looked dreamlike.

So, was it just their imagination after their brain being consumed by the threat entirely? Or, if it was real, then was it Eleven’s dream brought to real life? Upside Down being Eleven’s dream in Stranger Things doesn’t mean it isn’t real, but it means it is her creation out of the dreams she probably had while being traumatised in the Lab.
Upside Down in Stranger Things ends with Eleven
In all the previous three seasons of Stranger Things, we have seen everyone including Jim Hopper, Joyce, Nancy, Mike, and all other kids trying to save Eleven from the world and threats of Upside Down. However, no one realizes that all of it, accidentally, intentionally or forcefully, is created by Eleven.
All of it is probably her real-life hallucinations i.e. she has turned the real world of Stranger Things into what she goes through in her mind. And that’s why, all the threats, including Mind Flayer, are centred around her. In that case, there is no way to end it all while keeping Eleven safe.
We have seen in previous seasons of Stranger Things that the Gate of Upside Down can only be closed by Eleven. However, she never succeeded to close the Gate for forever even after almost sacrificing her life. So, probably everything ends with the end of Eleven only.
Eleven’s death in Stranger Things will mark the end of Upside Down and all the other threats, as she is the beginning of all. Change my mind.ac
