The new cast for Stranger Things season 4
We’ll probably see most of the major cast members reprising their roles. But, hopefully, with some new faces. Considering what happens at the end of season 3, we can expect Noah Schnapp (Will), Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven) Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), Finn Wolfhard (Mike), and Sadie Sink (Max) to all return. While Winona Ryder will also, no doubt, return as everyone’s favourite Mom, Joyce Byers.
Meanwhile, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, and Joe Keery, whose characters might likely be full-time college students, will all return too. Maya Hawke, who stars as Robin Buckley, will also be returning for season 4, along with Cara Buono who plays Karen Wheeler.
While Brett Gelman starring as Murray, and Priah Ferguson who plays Erica on the show have been promoted to series regulars and will have more screen time.
After months of speculation and fan theories, David Harbour will be returning as Chief Hopper in the upcoming season. In a new teaser trailer, Hopper, with his head shaved and sans moustache, can be seen working on a snowy field in Kamchatka, Russia.
So far, the only new face that’s confirmed is Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar from ‘Game of Thrones’), who will play the role of an as-yet-unnamed Soviet soldier. In addition, Duffer Brothers in an interview with Deadline revealed that season 4 will have a few iconic guest appearances.
“We have a couple of cool ones (guest stars) this year”, the Duffer Brothers said. “It’s a really fun way to meet one of your icons. You know, write a part for them and see if they want to do it”.
When will the season release?
The cast and crew began shooting ‘Stranger Things 4’ in March 2020 before production had to be suspended. As for now, reports suggest that ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 is set to “tentatively” restart filming on September 17th, 2020, in Georgia.
Recently, in an Instagram live, David Harbour shared that ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 was scheduled to be released in early 2021. However, due to the on-going coronavirus pandemic that led to delay in the production, it’s obvious that the release date will be pushed back to later part of 2021.
How many episodes will it carry?
The amount of episodes in season 4 truly depends on how much of the story the Duffer Brothers have to narrate. If you recall, the show’s season 1 had 8 episodes, season 2 had 9 episodes, and season 3 went back to 8 episodes.
There are rumoursof there being 9 episodes in season 4, similar to season 2. However, it is unconfirmed so far. One can probably expect a minimum of 8 episodes. In the pile of finished scripts shared by the writer’s room on Twitter, it appears as though there are 9-episode scripts.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that episode 1 of season 4 will be titled ‘Chapter One: The Hellfire Club’.
Potential plot for season 4?
Nobody currently has any confirmed plot details other than Hopper being alive and in Russia. But based on the show’s history, there are a few things fans can cling on to.
‘Stranger Things’ has been spanning one season per year, which means season 4 will likely be set in 1986. This can be a potential twist to Hopper being in Russia. We know that on April 26, 1986, the No. 4 reactor at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant melted down, and it was one of the biggest disasters in modern history. How that melts into the series is yet to be seen. Even though Chernobyl is 4541 miles from the Kamchatka peninsula in real-world miles. But, if you consider the Upside Down, it could be next door.
As time continues to pass, fans are getting more and more anxious about season 4’s storyline and its release date. Let us know if you have any theories about the upcoming season in the comments box below.
