Directed by Mike Flanagan, the TV adaptation is loosely based on a 1959 novel of the same name. Written by Shirley Jackson, the novel is considered to be one of the best pieces of horror literature. The adaptation’s ensemble cast features Victoria Pedretti, Michael Huisman, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel, Elizabeth Reaser, Henry Thomas, and Carla Gugino.
The series received critical acclaim ever since its release and explored underlying themes of mental health, addiction, fear, and grief. It’s popularity led to a follow-up series: ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor‘. Most of the cast has returned to reprise different roles in yet another chilling chapter of the story.

All about ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’
There’s a lot to know about ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’, but here’s what you should certainly know.
it’s a perfectly splendid ghost story. This chapter is loosely based on Henry James’ novella from 1898 titled “The Turn of the Screw”.
While this is the second entry in the haunting anthology series, it has no connections to its predecessor. The plot is different, the characters are portraying very different roles, and there is a different haunted house in store!

The story revolves around a governess who travels to a secluded town in England, to look after two young, orphaned children. When she arrives at the Bly estate, she begins to see apparitions that haunt the premises. The constant feeling of not being alone haunts her, and the strange children she’s watching over don’t help either.
The follow-up series is a standalone story and you don’t need to watch the first season in order to view it. We recommend watching ‘Hill House’ anyway though, it’s petrifying plot is too great to miss!
What the actors think about season 3
Fans expected that if the Bly Manor series was as successful as Hill House, director Mike Flanagan would discuss the renewal of the series. The actors think so too, but there’s no official news surrounding its renewal yet.
Victoria Pedretti, who plays the governess in Bly Manor, discussed the possibility in an interview with “The Wrap”. “I don’t really know anything about future seasons”, she shared. The actress played an indelible role in the first season, and is known for her portrayal of Love Quinn in Netflix’s ‘You’.
Pedretti’s Hill House and Bly Manor co-star Oliver Jackson-Cohen said,
“I think that it’s one of those where, if Bly Manor does well, then I’m sure conversations will happen with Netflix. But it’s entirely up to Mike and entirely up to what ideas he’s got up his sleeve. But I think all of us would definitely collaborate and work with him again if the opportunity arose. But there is genuinely nothing concrete as of now”.
Will season 3 follow the story of Bly Manor?
Since Hill House and Bly Manor both had different stories, the third season will also follow a new lead. Director Mike Flanagan seems to have immersed himself in horror literature so we shouldn’t be surprised to see a renewal in the form of season three.
The story of Bly Manor ended with its finale, so it’s likely for a new season to follow a new book! Hill House followed a close-knit family that was being haunted while Bly Manor followed two orphan children and the eerie occurrences in their house. A third season will have to surpass expectations of viewers who have been petrified by the first two seasons.
