Epstein breathed his last on August 19 last year. It seems that the entire story is not out yet; enter Ghislaine Maxwell, his muse, and his procurer. Here’s everything we know so far about Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich season two.
Who was Jeffrey Epstein?
Teacher, banker, socialite, financier, Epstein was many things while he was young and alive. He began his professional life as a teacher of mathematics and physics in Manhattan’s elite private schools, moving on to the financial realm by taking up a job at Bear Stearns through his contact with Alan Greenberg, the firm’s CEO.
He quickly moved his way to the top of the financial circle and created a ring of elites around him. He began procuring young women, even underage ones who he and his associates sexually abused. The first chink in Epstein armour was when in 2008 he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a 14-year-old girl but got off with only 13 months in custody.
After law enforcement officers took a closer look into his case they found that he had abused and raped 36 girls, with some as young as 14 years old. Before his death in a jail cell, Epstein was surrounded by some of the most influential men of the US such as Bill Clinton, Donald Trump, Michael Bloomberg, Michael Jackson, Woody Allen, the Kennedys, the Rothschilds, the Rockefellers and many more.
What did the docuseries Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich cover?
“It seemed just impossible that this could happen. The more I dug into it, the more insane it seemed.” were the words of the author James Patterson describing the moment he came across Jeffrey Epstein’s case. James also highlights how his book got relatively no attention and was snubbed by major media networks upon its release; this indicated that the information in his book could seriously ruffle some feathers.
The docu-series goes deep into how Epstein hunted for his victims. In one of these, he would offer someone a few hundred dollars to come to his house and give him a massage, and then he would sexually abuse them. The series brings on his two most prominent victims Virginia Giuffre and Maria Farmer to expound on his crimes against them. The show also brings up Epstein’s private island Little St. James, where he would host debauched parties for himself and his other rich friends.
What was Ghislaine Maxwell’s role in all this? What did director Lisa Bryant say regarding her arrest?
Upon hearing news of the arrest of Epstein’s procuror and partner-in-crime, director Lisa Bryant said the following in an interview with a leading Hollywood magazine, “I think there’s a lot of evidence, overwhelming evidence, or they wouldn’t have made that arrest today. I hope that perhaps the awareness that the series created worldwide, and the outrage as most of the feedback was, ‘What happened to these co-conspirators? Why aren’t they getting Ghislaine?’ I hope that that might have put pressure on the FBI to act quickly.”
Maxwell was the person responsible with the task of finding girls for Epstein and his friends to rape and abuse therefore she is currently under arrest and the investigation is going on.
Will the show shift its focus towards her in season 2?
The case is not over, all the culprits haven’t been brought to justice and the whole truth is not out yet. While the whole thing is still shrouded in mystery, we can expect the docu-series to go on in the future going by Lisa Bryant’s comments on Ghislaine’s recent arrest.
According to some, Ghislaine, not Epstein, was the ringleader and the one holding the reins, blackmailing and harassing Epstein’s victims. Check back here for more updates!
