Fans can’t help but smile every time David and Patrick make an appearance on their television screens. It’s because they’re simply the best … and because Patrick is the most wholesome character on the show!
Schitt’s Creek is a joyride of emotions, a compelling combination of humour, a well-written script, and unforgettable performances. Catherine O’Hara as Moira Rose has left an indelible impact, and Dan Levy‘s portrayal of David Rose has been heralded as an incredible representation of the LGBTQ+ community. While we love the Roses, we must admit that Noah Reid’s character Patrick has been the best! His ever-smiling face has charmed the show’s fans who are certain he is the most wholesome character on ‘Schitt’s Creek’. Here are 5 scenes from ‘Schitt’s Creek‘ where Patrick proved himself to be the Emmy-winning show’s most wholesome character!
- When Patrick remembered David’s over-complicated coffee order
- When Patrick serenaded David
- When Brewer got jealous of David and Ted’s kiss!
When Patrick and David had their first kiss
The couple first meets when David goes to apply for a business license, for Rose Apothecary. Patrick only helps him fill out the forms, but later expresses his interest in investing in the business. The two become business partners, which leads to them spending a lot of time together, and they secretly develop feelings for each other.
Their first kiss at the end of season 3 was one of the most romantic scenes in the entirety of the show! Patrick wasn’t afraid to address that he was nervous because he hadn’t kissed a man before, and thanked David for making it happen. When he asks David if they can talk the next day, his eyes sparkle and you see how much Patrick likes him. It’s definitely one of the most wholesome, honest Patrick moments ever!
When Patrick remembered David’s over-complicated coffee order
David’s preferences are as stylish as he is, even if it’s a cup of coffee! The morning after their first kiss, David and Patrick meet at Rose Apothecary, but David’s mother Moira arrives, making things uncomfortable. She sends Patrick out to get her a cup of tea, but when he returns, he brings David his coffee too! He hands David his “caramel macchiato skim two sweeteners and a sprinkle of cocoa”, which surprises even Moira! So not only does Patrick think of David in unexpected moments … but he perfectly remembers his over-the-top coffee order. If that isn’t true love, we don’t know what is.
When Patrick serenaded David
We discussed the couple’s first kiss, one of the most romantic moments in ‘Schitt’s Creek’, but here’s the best one. In the fourth season, Patrick hosts an open-mic night at the Rose Apothecary, to lure customers into the store. David is completely against the idea, the fact that he could watch his partner sing to a crowd of people is mortifying to him. What unravels later will melt even the most cynical of hearts. Patrick makes a revelation, featuring his “butter voice“, as Moira Rose calls it, serenading David with a cover of “Simply the Best“.
It’s when David experiences an honest moment of vulnerability, and the underlying truth: he’s falling for Patrick. His expression says it all, and we have Patrick aka Noah Reid to thank for creating this magic!
When Brewer got jealous of David Rose and Ted’s kiss!
Patrick’s late-night high school-themed housewarming slumber party changes completely when Ted kisses David during a game of spin the bottle. In the couple’s relationship, David is the one who usually overreacts but it was Patrick this time! Patrick gets jealous even though it wasn’t really David’s fault, and it was fun to see him get possessive about his partner. Patrick apologises later, but it was still interesting to see the tables turn this time!
When he proved David was the only one for him!
David and Patrick’s relationship in ‘Schitt’s Creek’ has been a very special journey for viewers to have been a part of. While they’re both good people as individuals, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that they were great together. In season 5, Ken, a customer visiting the Rose Apothecary, gives his number to Patrick. Although David is significantly bothered by this, he proposes that Patrick should go out on a date with him. Patrick has just begun to embrace his sexuality, and it was incredibly thoughtful of David to have done this for him.
Of course, Patrick didn’t need to see another man to know that David was always going to be the one for him. He goes back to the motel and confesses to not going on the date, expressing his wishes of not wanting to date anyone else. It was the sweetest thing he could have done, which just proves how genuine Patrick really is.
