Here’s what we know about one of Netflix’s most charming teenage romances.
The delightful teen rom-com show ‘Dash & Lily’ was a perfect end to a not-so-perfect year. Revolving around books, New York City, and the Christmas season, the show gives off whiffs of the movie ‘You’ve Got Mail‘ — more like a YA version of it.

The first season of the show was released on Netflix in November 2020, and it has already had audiences the world over swoon over this amazing show. For instance, the ‘Dash & Lily’ rating is a solid 7.6 on IMDB, with reviews calling it one of the most charming holiday watches of this year. Even though the first season had a tight eight-episode run that tied the narrative nicely, what are the chances for a ‘Dash & Lily’ Season 2? Let’s take a look.
What is it about?
Starring Midori Francis as Lily and Austin Abrams as Dash, the rom-com series is set in New York over the holiday season. There is the dreamy bookworm Lily, who yearns for a love story of her own. Then there is Austin, a cynic, who picks on a literary game in a bookstore that Lily initiates and thus begins their journey of coming to know of each other.
The Netflix show is actually based on a YA novel called “Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares” by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan. In fact, there’s also a part two of this book, which may actually make ‘Dash & Lily’ Season 2 a higher possibility.
‘Dash & Lily’ Season 2: Cast and release date
While we hope that the release date for ‘Dash and Lily’ Season 2 would be really soon, we have to say that although the chances of another season are high, what with the awesome ratings, there is no official word from Netflix yet.
However, the showrunner has definitely given a lot of hope. Showrunner and executive producer Joe Tracz told “TVLine”,
“I love these characters so much and the city that they live in. Knowing that there is more story to be told, those are stories I’d love to tell”.
Who will star in the second season? Well, definitely, Francis and Abrams, since there obviously can’t be a ‘Dash & Lily’ without them. But some of the other likely cast members are Dante Brown (who plays Boomer), Agneeta Thacker (Priya), Troy Iwata (Langston), Keana Marie (Sofia), and Jodi Long (Mrs Basil E)
Other returning cast members will likely include Dante Brown (Boomer), Troy Iwata (Langston), Agneeta Thacker (Priya), James Saito (Arthur), Keana Marie (Sofia), James Saito (Arthur), and Jodi Long (Mrs Basil E).
The book may give glimpses of season 2
Since the first season was based on a book, the second season could also follow the plot in the second book of the YA series, which actually happens to be a trilogy. The second novel is called “The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily”, and takes place one year after the events of the first book.
Here is what the official information from the publisher of the book reads:
“Dash and Lily have been dating for nearly a year, but when Lily’s beloved grandfather falls ill, the repercussions take their toll on everyone.”
With a story this lovely, and characters this charming, we can hardly wait for ‘Dash and Lily’ Season 2!
