The strange release pattern of ‘Stranger Things’
After binge-watching season 3 and making ‘Stranger Things’ the most viewed web series on Netflix, viewers are back to speculating the release date of ‘Stanger Things’ Season 4. Season 1 released in July 2016 and season 2 released in October 2017. Duffer brothers kept us waiting for season 3 and released it in July 2019.
Now it is confirmed that ‘Stranger Things’ won’t give you any predictive patterns.
The first 2 seasons had a 15-month gap, and the gap between the second and the third season is about 21 months. With these facts, all you can do is scratch your head for nothing. Instead, we should look into other clues to pinpoint the release date of ‘Stanger Things’ Season 4.
The hidden clue for season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ release date
If you are still doing calculations based on prior release dates, you might be missing on a very important fact. You failed to notice that season 2 involved Halloweens, so ‘Stranger Things’ Season 2 released in the Halloween month. Similarly, season 3 took Independence Day (4th of July) into its fold, so had a July release.
We can clearly expect that season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ will tie into another holiday. How about Thanksgiving or Christmas release? If we delve deeper into the episodes of season 3, when Eleven is leaving town with the Byers family, Mike suggests that it will be a good idea for her to visit during Christmas.
Are the Duffer brothers planning to treat us this Christmas? If they do so, we can expect the ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 premiere by Christmas 2020. “Inverse” also backs this theory. There’s only one hurdle in front of the producers which might delay the apparent Christmas release.
The year 2020 is the unprecedented year in history due to the global pandemic. Like everybody, studios around the world have faced shutdowns that hampered the shoot of many shows and movies. Duffer Bros might not be able to give us the ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 release at the time of Christmas due to the same reason.
Hopper’s alive! Is it a sign of strange things awaiting viewers on season 4?
Season 4 was officially confirmed with the teaser that showed a strangled logo of season 4 of ‘Stranger Things’ by the living vines of Upside Down. By the sides, we can see a clock chiming. The video concludes with a message “We’re not in Hawkins anymore”.
Then, in February 2020, came the second trailer putting rest to all the fan theories doing the rounds –
Hopper is alive but certainly not kicking.
Duffer Brothers said in a statement:
“We’re excited to officially confirm that production of ‘Stranger Things 4’ is now underway – and even more excited to announce the return of Hopper.”
They further added:
“Although it’s not all good news for our American Cop; he is imprisoned far from home in the snowy wasteland of Kamchatka, where he will face dangers both human … and another. Meanwhile, back in the states, a new horror is beginning to surface, something long-buried, and something that connects everything …”
We knew there’s a lot more to Upside Down than Mind Flayers and we also knew Russians will be coming. But, how Hopper escaped his death and what is he doing in Kamchatka, Russia is still a mystery.
The trailer features Hooper along with the others laying railway tracks. Just after the season 3 finale, fans started posting various theories around Hooper being alive. The showmakers, acting strangely, simply dropped the trailer showing him alive. They could have hyped it by keeping it a secret for ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 which clearly means there’s a lot more in store than Hooper’s mysterious rescue. We have time till the launch of ‘Stranger Things’ Season 4 to speculate how Upside Down tunnels into Russia.
