‘Peaky Blinders’ cancelled after season 6
Recently, BBC shared the news that the cast has resumed the shoot for season 6 after the pandemic led shutdown. The cheers came along with bad news, as the network confirmed that season 6 would close out the series. No need to panic, because we have some good news again!
Before we give you that good news, here’s a reminder that Cillian Murphy will return on season 6 along with other actors like Harry Kirton, Paul Anderson, and Sophie Rundle. Last time on season 5, we saw Tommy’s best-laid plan fail, and we also saw him losing it. It would be interesting to see if he will be consumed by the turmoil of his mind or will we witness the resurgence of the invincible Tommy Sheldon on ‘Peaky Blinders’ series 6.
Movie is on the way
The showrunners of ‘Peaky Blinders’ don’t want to part with the show with the ending of season 6.

Last time, when he sat down with “Entertainment Weekly”, he hoped the series would continue beyond season 6. At that time, thinking about a small movie was out of the question. But we can safely assume that the global pandemic and capital crisis precipitated the show’s demise.
If the situation improves in the coming years, there’s enough content with the makers that they can create a spin-off show and expand the ‘Peaky Blinders’ universe.
In the vein of the ‘Deadwood’ movie released in 2019, one can hope that series might see a final movie or a spin-off down the line.
A spin-off, but not exactly spin-off on the way
“We have been working diligently along with our wonderful, supportive partners at BBC and Netflix to ensure we can get ‘Peaky’ safely back into production”
Said executive producer Caryn Mandabach. He further added, “World of ‘Peaky Blinders’ will most definitely live on”.
‘Peaky Blinders’ premiered its first season in the UK in 2013. Actor Tom Hardy joined the cast during season 3, reuniting with Steven Knight who worked with him on the movie ‘Locke’. Netflix offers all seasons on its platform for streaming.
Though the shoot has begun, there’s currently no word on when season 6, the final season of ‘Peaky Blinders’ will air.
Steven confirmed the movie saying that it is in development.
“A Peaky Blinders movie is a fully formed idea and it has a beginning, middle, and end. And I think it’s going to be a fitting conclusion to the story told so far.”
It is clear that he is planning to continue the ‘Peaky Blinders’ story beyond the show’s final season and follow-up feature film. Additional television shows are being planned to spin out of the movie, while the flagship series will end after season 6.
In the end, without saying the word spin-off, Knight teased that ‘Peaky Blinders’ will continue their story. He said,
“There will be things I don’t really call spinoffs, but there will be other TV shows that I hope will come out of [the movie], that will continue to tell the story of this part of society and this family”.
Currently, Knight isn’t only working on a ‘Peaky Blinders’ franchise. He is also serving as a writer and has penned the screenplay for ‘Spencer’, the Princess Diana biopic starring Kristen Stewart, which is being directed by Pablo Larraín.
