The wait is over and the Byrdes are coming back one last time with more twists on the Netflix series ‘Ozark’. What’s the plan this time? Let’s find out!
‘Ozark’, the crime drama on Netflix starring Jason Bateman and Laura Linney, entered season 3 with a loud noise, the sound of which hasn’t faded yet. ‘Ozark’ is returning for season 4 on Netflix and the Byrdes are game for one final round of kicking ass. Here’s all you need to know about what to expect from the final season.
- The story isn’t over yet
- Who is returning and who’s not?
- When is season 4 airing?
The Story Isn’t Over Yet
Season 3 of ‘Ozark’ went out with a bang and there’s more left of where that comes from. The third season of the show pushed the Byrdes to test their limits once again as Omar Navaro, the drug lord, kidnapped and tortured his favourite accountant Marty Byrde. Meanwhile, Wendy Byrde had to sacrifice her brother, Ben, by ordering a hit on him in order to protect her family from being killed at the hands of the drug cartel.
That is not how it ends for the Byrdes though. Netflix has announced that ‘Ozark’ will be returning with season 4 for the viewers to witness Marty and company in action for one final showdown. Chris Mundy would be back to run the show for the final season along with Jason Bateman, who has been starring, directing, and running the Netflix series all at once. According to Mundy, the final season would allow the creators to bring the story to a full circle and that would be a perfectly fulfilling experience for the viewers. It can be, then, expected that the final season would provide the perfect closure to the characters and the viewers alike. As for the main man, Jason Bateman, he has teased us with hints of a super exciting season. He told “Variety“, “A super-sized season means super-sized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end with a bang(s)”.
Apparently, ‘Ozark’ would be returning on Netflix with season 4, and like the Byrdes, we too cannot keep calm!
Who is Returning and Who’s Not?
Like any other usual day in ‘Ozark‘, season 3 saw the deaths of some of the most notable characters. One such death was that of Navarro’s representative, Helen Pierce, who was shot point-blank before Marty and Wendy. The other shocking death was that of Wendy’s brother, Ben Davis, whom Nelson had killed after Wendy put out a hit on her own brother. Sue, the therapist of Marty and Wendy, was also one of the people killed by Nelson on the orders of Helen Pierce. Undoubtedly, none of these characters is coming back for season 4 of ‘Ozark’ on Netflix.
Among the obvious returns should be Marty Byrde, ie, Jason Bateman himself, and Wendy played by Laura Linney. Felix Solis will be returning to play drug Kingpin, Navarro, and Sofia Hublitz will reprise her role as Charlotte. Skylar Gaertner would come back as Jonah, while the gorgeous Julia Garner would return to play Ruth Langmore. We will get to see Charlie Tahan back in action as Wyatt Langmore, along with Lisa Emery as Darlene Snell. Jessica Francis Dukes would also be taking her role back up as FBI Special Agent Maya Miller. Some of the minor characters like Trevor Evans, Three Langmore, and Sam’s fiancé, Jade, could be back as well. Besides, there are multiple possibilities of new characters being introduced into the show’s final season.
When is Season 4 Airing?
‘Ozark’ has been guilty of demonstrating some inconsistencies in their previous release timings.
While season 2 of the show released about one year after season 1 premiered in July 2017, viewers had to bat their eyes for over one and half years for season 3 to air on Netflix. Season 3 of ‘Ozark‘ released this year in March and with the Covid-19 pandemic, season 4 could be expected to see delays in releasing on Netflix. The production team is taking small steps towards resuming season 4 while keeping in mind the health risk factors of the cast and crew.
In fact, Jason Bateman has confirmed that they are working towards resuming action by the second week of November. He told “IndieWire”, “We’re going to start November 9. Everything is moving well toward that, and we’re very confident in the guidelines and protocols we’re going to be following. We’ve got tons of consultants, [and] we’re learning a lot from other productions”. Bateman has also confirmed that the production team has well thought out contingency plans in place, in case things go downhill. Are you excited for ‘Ozark’ Season 4?
