Let’s find out.
Orange is the New Black: A trailblazer
In October 2018, Netflix announced that it was ending the series with the seventh season. With seven seasons and 91 episodes, it became Netflix’s longest-running show.
In the six years that it ran, it ushered in a new wave of how films and TV series were being produced and offered to the audience. The show became a trailblazer’ for its innovation and set a precedent —streaming platforms would become the new place-to-be if you want fun and enlightening content.
But that is not all it did. The show also brought forward a diverse range of women characters to the forefront.
The extraordinary women of Orange is the New Black
Taylor Schilling plays Piper Chapman in the show, who is arrested for international drug trafficking and is ultimately convicted. Once Schilling finds herself in prison, the series picks up pace introducing more women characters from inside the prison.

It depicts the lives of female prisoners while also giving the audience a glimpse into their lives before prison through flashbacks.
The series, besides Schilling, also stars Uzo Aduba, the breakout star from the show, who won a Primetime Emmy for her outstanding performance. Alongside Schilling and Aduba, the show stars Laura Prepon, Natasha Lyonne, Kate Mulgrew, and Taryn Manning.

Season 8 could be a possibility
Recently, some comments by the cast of the show made fans wonder if the Netflix series could be coming back for season 8. It’ll be so easy to see all the characters pick up right where season 7 ended- whether it is Nikki being a prison mom, Piper starting a new life, or Alex adjusting in her new prison.
Fan-favorite Dan Soules, who played Frida on the show, said that she is waiting for the day she’s requested to come back for another season and feels like it is going to happen, one way or another.
And even though no official announcement has been made yet, Netflix has been on a roll with reviving old shows for a while with the likes of Gilmore Girls, The Ranch, all making a possible comeback.
The new season could see some of the old cast returning, while new characters could be joining the show as well. Well, one can only hope that Netflix brings us some good news with Orange is the New Black season 8, the rest is up to Netflix, of course.
