If you want to know all about Orange Is The New Black season 8 you are at the right place
- Prospects of OITNB season 8
- Spin-off is the new black
- Orange forever is black forever
What’s your colour for blazing vaginas? Back in 2013, Netflix painted them “Orange” and we made them “the new Black”. Orange Is The New Black had a super successful run on Netflix clocking 7 seasons of a rebellious woman in Litchfield Penitentiary, a minimum-security women’s federal prison in upstate New York.
They were pioneers in many things, making Netflix as the new black, queer as the new black and so much more. All we can say, after binge-watching 13 episodes of 7th season of OITNB- they did it again, making us hopelessly and helplessly crave for Orange Is The New Black season 8.
Prospects of OITNB season 8
“After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison. I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black.” These words by creator Jenji Kohan certainly leave our hopes on OITNB season 8 in the dust.
Looks like Kohan is done and dusted giving her 7 years to filming 18 month Prison memorabilia of Piper Kerman. Piper’s journey in jail is just 18 months but the series has depicted all contemporary issues from the Obama era to the Trump era. And we get that, after all, Clock slows down in prison.
Coming back to season 8, well, it is not happening. Netflix has canceled it and Jenji is on board. Here’s how video streaming giant paid tribute to the first groundbreaking original that made Netflix, the new Black:
“We will be sad to say goodbye but we will definitely be going out on a high. We are grateful to Jenji Kohan and her groundbreaking vision; to her supremely talented team of writers and producers; and to a once-in-a-lifetime cast and crew for creating a truly special work of art that has inspired conversations and connected audiences around the world.”
Thanks to the OTT era, we can revisit the uproarious bunch of women anytime, anywhere. Are you up for another immersive Orange binge-watching session?
Spin-off Is The New Black
At this moment nothing can be said on spin-off. But, we can’t rule out the possibility of it.
Kevin Beggs, chairman of the Lionsgate Television Group which produced OITNB told The Hollywood Reporter that he was in talks with Kohan about another series of the show.
He said: “We’re really proud of the long run that Orange Is The New Black had. It remains one of Netflix’s most-watched shows. We’re ending on a high note. Keep in mind we own that series and will be distributing it for years to come. We’re already in discussions and, when the timing is right, we’ll talk further with Jenji about a potential sequel.”
We share your thoughts on OITNB sequel, Kevin. Just bring Kohan on board.
In the age where anybody and everybody is coming up with a spinoff, it is needless to say Spinoff Is The New Black. We expect that OITNB sequel won’t turn out to be vestigial like other spinoffs and will be as relevant as the show is.
Orange forever is Black forever
It was never just another prison drama. What started with Piper’s prison memoir brought every contemporary issues under it, painted it orange and made it “the black”. The show changed TV forever, made Netflix as a platform of all unheard voices, be it race, raw woman, LGBT, queer and what not.
For the first time, Netflix experimented with a bunch of rebellious women and not how TV reduced them to objects of male gaze. Their success opened the gates for different voices gaining traction on TV. Now with Netflix and Amazon ruling the roost, we can safely claim that subjects like Orange will be “the Black” forever.
In the end one can say, they came, they conquered, but aren’t going anywhere. OITNB will always remain “the original new black” of Netflix. Binge-watch Orange jump-suited women anytime you like.
