Orange Is The New Black: A Feminist Saga
Dirty, loud, bad, wrong, right, complex are how the characters of the show Orange Is The New Black can be described. Arriving first in the scene in 2013, the show is about women in prison and is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir Orange Is The Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison.
The lead protagonist of the show, Taylor Schilling finds herself sentenced to jail time after her name is referenced in a criminal trial. Her character Piper Chapman is ultimately convicted of international drug smuggling and has to spend 14 months in jail.
During the course of seven seasons, Orange Is The New Black series depicts the life of inmates inside the prison and using flashback outside of it as well. Alongside Schilling is a star-cast and some new faces who all went on to perform critically-appreciated performances like Ruby Rose, Uzo Abuda, Kate Mulgrew, Taryn Manning and veteran Hollywood actor Laura Prepon.
So, who will the Season 8 reboot of Orange Is The New Black feature?
