Netflix horror anthology is back with The Haunting of Bly Manor
A few days back, Netflix released the teaser trailer of The Haunting of Bly Manor. We are well aware of all the screams the show might have in store for us. The Haunting of Bly Manor is a follow-up to The Haunting of Hill House. This takes Netflix’s plans for a haunting anthology series a step further, which debuted with the Hill House in 2018 and became an overnight sensation.
For a long time after the Hill House’s premiere, there was speculation regarding Netflix’s stand on a sequel. Though it was reported that Netflix wanted to carry it further after the success of Hill House, the writer and show-runner, Mike Flanagan, maintained that the writers “were happy to close the book.”
So, it seems what we are getting is their solution to this strife, where the show will continue, but the story won’t.
Bly Manor will be haunted by new ghosts.
Even though The Haunting of Bly Manor is a sequel to The Haunting of Hill House by Netflix, it won’t continue the same story. Bly Manor will tell an entirely new story with all new characters and threats.

While Hill House was based on the novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson, Bly Manor is based on the 1898 horror novella The Turn of the Screw by Henry James.
Even though the two stories will not be connected, the creative team and much of the cast from Hill House will be returning to Bly Manor. Some of it, obviously, will be new.
The returning cast in Bly Manor
Young Victoria Pedretti from Hill House will return for The Haunting of Bly Manor. However, this time she’ll be the lead Dani Clayton, a young governess who suspects and falls for the haunted manor.
Quiz: The Haunting of Hill House
Henry Thomas will return as Henry Wingrave (why do I see Grave in the name?). Henry hires Dani to look after his orphaned niece and nephew in the country house.
Jackson-Cohen, the recovering addict Luke Cain from Hill House will be Henry Wingrave’s business associate in Bly Manor.
Kate Siegel is another cast member from Hill House who will continue her horror journey on The Haunting of Bly Manor.
The new cast to be haunted
With several cast members from Hill House returning to The Haunting of Bly Manor to continue their horror anthology journey on Netflix, there are several new preys as well.
Amelie Bea Smith will be joining the cast as Henry Wingrave’s orphaned niece. And it’s her love for adorable – when not talking – dolls that’s probably going to trouble her and all, as teased in the teaser.
Benjamin Evan Ainsworth from The Omen will be Wingrave’s orphaned nephew, Miles Wingrave.
The Christmas Prince’s Tahirah Sharif will play Rebecca Jessel, the governess before Dani at Bly Manor. Wait! If Dani is there to be governess, does that mean Rebecca has already tuned into glucose for the ghosts?
Several other stars including Rahul Kohli, T’Nia Millar, Amelia Eve, will also be joining the cast.
The Haunting of Bly Manor is all set to premiere on Netflix on October 9, 2020. Do you think it hit the same level of spookiness as The Haunting of Hill House?
