Netflix is soon planning on releasing Season 3 of the unexpected globally successful German show Dark and many people are comparing Dark to Stranger Things.
An unsettling chill spreads over you as you watch yourself being equally terrified and excited in that one brief moment when you hit the play button and see your face disappear from the screen of your device. The screen is black now. The word Dark glows in front of you.
Highlights:
- Netflix’s Very Own Horror Show: Dark
- Dark Season 3: Everything We Know
- Release Date for Dark
Netflix’s German show Dark is one of the strangest, weirdest, most bone-chilling shows to grace our screens and our horror-loving brain can’t get enough of it. After two very successful seasons the drama is back on Netflix for a much anticipated Season 3 and here’s everything we know so far. Of course sci-fi shows with a dark theme is somewhat Netflix’s specialty with Stranger Things being the successful front-runner in that category. But while some people may find that too easy to watch, there is nothing remotely easy to watch about Dark.
Netflix’s Very Own Horror Show: Dark
Dark is the kind of show you get hooked on from the second you decide to watch it. Not only is it brilliantly produced, but it’s also edgy and for the lack of a better word: cool. Dark follows the story of interconnected families in a little town, Winden, in Germany in the year 1980. The unique proposition the show holds and what makes it ’cool’ is the time-traveling complexities that the storyline holds. And it all starts with the disappearance of a child, Mikkel.
This disappearance holds the secrets of four families, all interconnected and treading on a very thin line between Good and Evil. Mikkel who disappeared in 2019 ended up in 1986 ends up marrying Jonas’s mother. Jonas is our lead time-traveller and right now everyone through with Season 1 and 2 of Dark are wondering the same thing- where in the space-time conundrum is Jonas right now?

Dark Season 3: Everything We Know
If all of this is sounding a bit familiar to anyone reading it, it is because it actually is. A child disappearance, the 1980s, families who know each-other- is nothing if not similar to the theme that Netflix’s show Stranger Things runs so successfully on.
Which is also why Dark was also called the European Stranger Things at one point. But Dark is edgier, gorier and more R rated than Stranger Things theme and the latter’s love for childhood-romance and the more than occasional comic relief. The Season 3 plot of Dark will include Jonas’s disappearance as it’s one of the biggest mysteries at this point in the show. In the last season Martha found herself in a room with her present time Martha and the alternate Martha need the help of present-day Jonas to destroy his old self.
You could see how it can be very confusing once you try to start making sense or predict of what the next season is going to be about. And Dark is the kind of show if you start to theorize about it you might just end up giving yourself a headache. What we do know is that at some point present-day Jonas will have to fight his older version and we can’t wait to see how that turns out. Till then maybe hop on to Netflix, search for Dark, and watch Season 1 and 2 to check if we’ve left any clue unnoticed.
