Fresh off an Oscar win, Brad Pitt is still the legend he always has been; So what do we hear about a certain someone’s guest appearance in the beloved sitcom of 2000s, Arrested Development?
- Netflix to invite Brad Pitt for Arrested Development Season 6?
- Why was Brad Pitt present on ‘Arrested Development’s’ set?
- Is There a Season 6?
After pictures of Brad Pitt surfaced outside the set of the show fans were quick to speculate if that were the case.
Why was Brad Pitt present on ‘Arrested Development’s’ set?
The set photos actually date back to season 5 and exist for a very different reason altogether.
Arrested Development star, Alia Shawkat and Pitt have been sparking dating rumours since they were first seen hanging out in September 2019.
According to various sites and sources, the pair have been taking things very slow but seem to enjoy each other’s company a lot. After Pitt’s high-profile divorce with Angelina Jolie, Pitt was also linked with ex Jennifer Aniston after a picture of them holding each other backstage at the SAG-Awards went viral online.
But there have been no reports to back up that claims much to the dismay of their fans who have long supported them getting back together.
Is There a Season 6?
The Show’sfifth season doesn’t have to be it’s last. Arrested Development had a pretty good run for it’s first three seasons and ended up winning best comedy three years in a row.
It remains to be one of the most influential shows of 2000’s introducing a genre that wasn’t known to the masses before. A satire-commentary on the rich and privileged, It had a dedicated fan base which led to it’s comeback on Netflix for another two seasons.
So, will Netflix grant permission for a sixth season?
The problem lies at multiple levels. After three very successful seasons Netflix decided to bring the show back on an OTT platform. Almost a decade later due to prior commitments of the actors their characters hardly ever interacted with each other in the show. Which was really weird and awkward and pissed of the fans even more than the shoddy writing.
What was worse than this debacle was the writers and creators still trying to retain the genre that had made the show work with the fans in the first place. It wasn’t new or exciting and some would agree to say that it aligned perfectly along to an awful lot of cringe-worthy content with sub-plots that didn’t make any sense. No one was laughing and certainly not Netflix who had poured their money into reviving this once very hit show.
Moreover, in a very disappointing turn of events, actor Jeffrey Tambor has been accused of sexual harassment by his co-stars and former assistant. Amazon fired him after an investigation into the case.
I think it’s safe to say all these reasons seem enough for Netflix to be resistant to jump on the bandwagon considering this debacle and disappointing ratings. Both the seasons had premiered with next to no buzz and very poor reviews.
Last year’s eight episodes that weren’t great but weren’t terrible either Netflix may choose to go ahead with Jeffrey Tambor which seems like a huge risk or call of the already struggling show.
And where our favourite, Brad Pitt fits into the scenario? Only time will tell. But the question that still remains- At this point do we really need a Sixth Season? Let us know what you think in the comments below!
