Rumours are rife that ‘BoJack Horseman’ just dropped its sixth and allegedly final season on Netflix, but there’s still hope that the series could return for Season 7. If you are confused, here’s what we know to help clear the air for you.
How did season 6 end and what it leaves for season 7?
The finale episode unveils that BoJack survived and then ended up in jail on charges of breaking and entering. Which means he’s alive, and, the story suggests, that the rest of Hollywood is ready to forget his misdeeds and move on.
Meanwhile, Diane is living a new life in Texas, Princess Carolyn’s career is soaring, Mr Peanutbutter has mysteriously transformed into a TV star, and Todd is still Todd.
But what we mean to say is that BoJack’s series finale clearly leaves the door open for another season. At this point, you might wonder would the show’s creators renew it with a new season. And to answer that question, you’ll have to read further.
So, will season 7 release?
The streaming giant dropped the sixth season in two parts in an attempt to provide the perfect ending to the show. And so, episode 16 of Season 6 became the ultimate episode of the series for fans.

Hence, it’s highly likely that showrunners are not planning to renew the adult animated series with season 7.
Fans have enjoyed watching ‘Bojack Horseman’ on their screens since 2014 and it will be hard for some to bid farewell to it.
Meanwhile, you can binge-watch all the episodes of the series on Netflix.
What did the creators have to say about the big decision?
The creator of the show, Raphael Bob-Waksberg, earlier opened up about the ending of the show. He revealed that it was Netflix’s decision to end BoJack Horseman after the sixth season and make it the conclusion. But, as a creator, he wanted to make more episodes, and according to him, the show could have continued for more years.

In an interview, Bob-Waksberg said,
“They don’t have to do that, certainly. But I stated I would like it if I could have the forewarning to provide the series a great finale, and not establish some cliffhangers that will never pay off. So when they ordered season six, they told, ‘hey, remember how you requested for that heads-up? We believe that this is your heads-up’. So I’m very thankful that we got that notice.”
Could the show return in the future?
Bob-Waksberg’s quote reveals two primary things. First, that it wasn’t his decision to conclude BoJack, and second that Netflix gave him the heads up season 6 being the series finale so that as a creator he can focus on delivering a proper send-off.
However, it’s clear that ‘BoJack Horseman’ was able to end with a satisfactory conclusion and it wasn’t like there’s some big unresolved cliffhanger that could make fans demand a season 7. On the other hand, it seems highly possible that Bob-Waksberg wanted to keep the series going on for a few more seasons if Netflix didn’t interfere.
This might seem like a mixed bag but for now, it will be wise for fans to believe that BoJack is over and there are no new episodes in the pipeline. However, we can expect a spinoff based on the series as it’s a very successful one and has bagged many awards.
