Our Planet was the most watched show on Netflix in April 2019. The first nature documentary series Netflix has ever made is narrated by David Attenborough and produced by Silverback Films. The series is led by Alastair Fothergill and Keith Scholey, who also created BBC documentary series Planet Earth, Frozen Planet and The Blue Planet, in collaboration with World Wildlife Fund.This one is a must watch if you love nature.
The series was released on 5 April 2019 and it was reported that around 25 million households watched the series during its first month of release. The eight-part nature doc-series took four years to make and was filmed in 50 countries, and over 600 crew members took part in the production.
The series focuses on the breadth of the diversity of habitats around the world, including the Arctic wilderness, the deep sea, the vast landscapes of Africa and the diverse jungles of South America.
2. Black Summer
Black Summer is a zombie apocalypse drama series, which is created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams. The post-apocalyptic fiction drama was released on on Netflix on April 11. The season has 8 episodes with running time of 20-44 minutes. The series produced by The Asylum, the same production company behind Z Nation.
The lead star of the series, Jaime King is playing the role of a mother who is separated from her daughter during the earliest and most deadly days of a zombie apocalypse.
She embarks on a harrowing journey, stopping at nothing, all to find her daughter. She must brave a hostile new world and make brutal decisions during the most deadly summer of a zombie apocalypse.
Bonding is an American dark comedy web series that stars Zoe Levin, Brendan Scannell, Micah Stock, Theo Stockman, D’Arcy Carden and Eric Berryman. The series premiered on Netflix on April 24, 2019.
The series talks about two best friends from high school, meeting years later in New York. Peter (Brendan Scannell) is a failed stand-up comedian that has never made it to the stage, and Tiff (Zoe Levin) is moonlighting as a Dominatrix.
The comedy-drama envisions a scenario where Tiff hires Peter as an assistant, who bamboozles his way through scenes, singing happy birthday to himself so he can finally pee on one of her clients.
4. Street Food

If you have seen any other Netflix food documentaries you would have an idea of what the new Netflix series Street Food will look like. The connection between the food and the lives of the people who make it, make the street food different.
The 9 episode series is created by David Gelb and Brian McGinn. Street Food is a look at the dishes, traditions, and most importantly, the people behind the cuisine found in corners and open-air markets in some of the world’s most vibrant cities.
The first season is set in Asia. This is one lips-smacking series.
5. After Life
“After Life” is a black comedy web series. The series was created and directed by Ricky Gervais, who is also set to be executive producer alongside Charlie Hanson. The series was released on 8th march 2019 on Netflix. The director Ricky Gervais is also starring in the series.
“After Life” tells the story of a man named Tony whose life is turned upside down after his wife dies from breast cancer. He contemplates suicide, but instead decides to live long enough to punish the world for his wife’s death by saying and doing whatever he wants. Although he thinks of this as his “superpower“, his plan is undermined when everyone around him tries to make him a better person again.
It’s a redemption story, sure; but more than that, it’s a story about learning to live with clarity and compassion even when doing so feels completely impossible.
