The homeless show is getting a new home again … and possibly a new season.
In a roller-coaster of events, the Stephen King adaptation ‘Mr. Mercedes is getting new life after being stranded with an uncertain future after three seasons. This home is none other than NBCUniversal’s own newly launched streaming platform, Peacock. This new life courtesy Peacock comes after the show’s home channel, Audience Network, where it premiered in 2017, was dissolved in January of this year. The series is slated to launch on the platform with two of its seasons by October 15, with its third outlet to follow suit soon enough.
- When will ‘Mr. Mercedes’ Season 4 release?
- How Peacock could be the rescuer of shows everyone needs
The series is based on a trilogy of King’s novels and follows Bill Hodges, a retired police detective who finds himself in a mad rivalry with a psychopathic serial killer by the name of Brady Hartsfield. The title of the show is actually the nickname Hartsfield achieves after he drives a Mercedes into a queue of job seekers.
When will ‘Mr Mercedes’ Season 4 release?
Now that it already has a new home for its three seasons, what’s in store for the show? Officially, there hasn’t been any announcements made for ‘Mr. Mercedes’ Season 4. When the announcement of the move happened, it wasn’t accompanied by any statements of plans for a new season. This could be because following Audience Network’s dissolution, the show was basically treated as cancelled until it was picked up by Peacock.
Now, ‘Mr Mercedes’ is one of those King stories that have a lot many things to say. And it is very likely that it could get the opportunity to do so on Peacock. In essence, ‘Mr Mercedes’ Season 4 on Peacock could be a viable option.
How Peacock could be the rescuer of shows everyone needs
Peacock is now competing with already-established giants such as Netflix. While it has been acquiring NBC’s own shows like ‘The Office’ to be streamed exclusively on Peacock, the platform also needs a few shows it can produce.
Moreover, it also needs variety. Peacock has a heavy line of comedies, especially reboots and revivals of shows such as ‘Saved by the Bell’ and ‘Fresh Prince of Bel-Air’. ‘Mr Mercedes’ Season 4 could be just the kind of dark show that would go well with its other lineups. This means that Peacock could green light another season of the show to promote the series and its bingeability.
