But, is Raquel’s character set to betray the Professor and his gang in the upcoming season of this sought-after drama?
When Netflix brought to its subscribers the Antenna 3 Spanish crime-thriller ‘La Casa De Papel’ a.k.a. ‘Money Heist’, no one was anticipating that it would become a global phenomenon. ‘Money Heist’ is one of the most popular shows on Netflix today.
The series has become a trendsetter in popular culture, familiarising people with renowned Spanish artist Salvatore Dali and the 19th-century Italian folk song, “Bella Ciao”, two elements that are integral to the show. ‘Money Heist’ Season 5 confirmed unofficially.
‘Money Heist’ revolves around the Professor (Álvaro Morte) and his team, recruited by him for successfully carrying out a heist. Raquel Murillo is initially a member of the National Police Corps and is responsible for negotiating with the robbers, but ends up falling in love with the Professor and ultimately joining his gang.
The series is known for its edge of the seat thrills and unpredictable storyline. Season 4 of the show saw the death of another major character, Nairobi, and left the fans with a major cliff-hanger where the Professor is held at gunpoint by Inspector Alicia Sierra (Najwa Nimri), and Raquel finally enters the Bank of Spain to help the gang with the heist.
But, is a season 5 happening to resolve the questions that the fans have? The answer is yes! Even though Netflix hasn’t officially released a statement regarding the same, ’What’s On Netflix’ reported producer Jesús Colmenar saying, “That there is a fifth season can be said”. Also, Itziar Ituño, who plays Raquel on the show, suggested that season 4 is unlikely to be the last.
Is Raquel the real traitor in season 5?
Even though there is no official confirmation on this, fans have theories both in favour as well as against this. At the Chelsea Film Festival, Álvaro Morte said, “The Professor was a very weird guy, a very lonely guy, and what happened with the band and finding love, it’s a really small chapter in his life”. He continued saying, “If we’re talking about the end of the character, I think at one point, I’d like to see him go back to that loneliness, that solitary life that he’s more used to and seems more comfortable in”, indicating that according to him his character might end up alone.
This has led to fans speculating that Lisbon might eventually betray his trust, forcing him to lose her.
However, most fans are hopeful for a happy ending for the Professor and Raquel, especially now that he has told her that he cannot live without her.
Also, considering how Raquel went into the bank to help the Professor’s gang, knowing that it might be impossible to come back safely, it seems highly unlikely that she will turn out to be a traitor.
Theories we may possibly see in season 5
Several dramatic theories are currently in speculation and one of the most probable is that the Professor and Raquel will die, and Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) will be the last one standing. The grapevine is that Tokyo might eventually take over the Professor’s role and train a new generation for a heist.
Another fascinating theory is that Berlin is still alive and that his ex-wife Tatiana is Alicia’s sister. Mind-boggling right? Well, this isn’t all. Fans also believe that Alicia might be faking her pregnancy since emotionally manipulating people is her specialty. Her character is shown to be smoking, drinking caffeine, and even engaging in torture, everything that a pregnant woman should not be indulging in.
As fans are eagerly awaiting the next season, we are unsure of what to expect. The show has time and again stood up to the expectations of the censorious audiences. It is yet to be seen what is going to happen in the highly anticipated season 5.
