It has been quite a journey for ‘Money Heist’ fans. From a recent online report, a possible plotline for season 5 has been revealed, according to which Lisbon leaves the gang, Sierra holds the professor captive and his life at stake, and Alicia is somehow connected to Berlin.
But amidst all this, will season 5 be the end of the professor? Read on to know more!

How did ‘La Casa De Papel’ become famous?
All thanks to Netflix for buying the show’s streaming rights,; ‘Money Heist’ has become a global hit with one of the biggest fan bases any show has had in a long time. The Spanish series originally known as ‘La Casa De Papel’, was initially broadcasted on the Spanish network Antena 3 between May 2017 and November 2017 until Netflix took over in 2018, increased its budget, and the rest, of course, is history.
The series has received several awards including, best drama series at the 46th International Emmy Awards, as well as critical acclaim for its sophisticated plot, interpersonal dramas, direction, and for trying to popularize Spanish television.
In case you didn’t know already, the very famous Bella Ciao, which plays multiple times throughout the series, is a well known Italian, anti-fascist, folk song, originally sung by Paddy field workers in the late 19th century. The song, since it has been introduced in the show, has become viral with fans covering the song in different styles and genres.
Will season 5 be the end of the professor?
The last time we all saw the professor, he was trying to help the gang rescue Lisbon from the police, and was held at gunpoint by Inspector Sierra. We all knew that the cliffhanger was coming, but we never expected for it to come in his way. The cliffhanger has worked out pretty well for us all, as we await season 5.

Now, the real question is, will the mastermind behind the two successful heists survive? Most fans think he would.
“After screwing government, Alicia connects the missing pieces of heist that led her to professor. Alicia is fugitive in eyes of government and she doesn’t have plans to surrender and hand over the professor. Instead, she decides to help professor finish heist and safe escape of whole gang. Here comes the plot twist! Now Alicia needs a favor from the gang by asking them to do some dirty work (i.e. another heist..BOOM) Note to take: Lisbon, who was negotiating royal mint heist, joined gang in 3rd season and similarly, Alicia may also join the gang in 5th season”, suggests u/thirdeye1998 on Reddit.
On the contrary, Reddit user sam261291 commented, “Maybe she’ll demand all the gold to release the professor, and try to bust the team and professor (favoring the government) but the people of the country will go against her. Gold will go to the people as professor wished and he’ll die in the process, making him a legend”.
Alicia Sierra and Berlin are connected
In season 3 and 4, we saw a lot of Berlin, his fiancé, and the wedding which resulted in quite a few fan theories suggesting that Sierra could be connected to Berlin. But again, the inspector and Berlin never really met each other or, at least, we didn’t see the meeting in the flashbacks that were part of the recent instalment.
However, many fan theories suggest that Tatiana and Alicia could be directly related in some way and that the latter was getting back at the professor for whatever Berlin did to Tatiana, which of course is unknown to everyone.
Another theory hints that Sierra could be Tatiana which would only make sense if the latter had a few surgeries, dyed her hair, and somehow managed to join the forces.
When will season 5 release?
According to an online report, season 5 and 6 has been greenlit and, of course, fans are eager to know when the next installation will be released. There are speculations that the next season will be released in April 2021.
However, due to the worldwide pandemic, it has now become uncertain to say when the series will be renewed for a new season. All that fans can do is hope and wish that everything works out well, and we get to see our favourite characters on screen again.
