The popular show already has many demands for a spin-off, and this angle could just work.
When ‘Money Heist’ broke into Netflix, it took the world by storm. Quickly going on to become an international success, this Spanish drama was rated the most popular non-English drama on Netflix by “Forbes“. Creator Alex Pina couldn’t have dreamed that ‘La Casa de Papel’, as the show is called in its original version, would globally dominate the genre of thrilling dramas for a full four seasons. Not only are fans pumped up for more seasons of the show, they practically seem to be pleading for ‘Money Heist’ spin-offs already!

‘Money Heist’ has the potential for many spin-offs
Don’t blame the fans for wanting more from a gritty, brilliant show with fantastic characters! The ‘Money Heist’ characters are an ensemble lot with their diverse roots and motivations, and picking on any one of their stories would make for a good spin-off. For instance, there could be a spin-off about the controversial character of Berlin itself, who was actually killed off in the show. The fiery and fierce Nairobi is another character whose backstory could be explored.
“We do have many possibilities for some spin-offs, yes, and I think that’s thanks to the strong and powerful identities of the characters”.
Why the kids on the show are the perfect set-up for a ‘Money Heist’ spin-off
While character-led spin-offs would be a good idea, another way a ‘La Casa de Papel’ spin-off could be explored would be to take the stories of the kids forward.
For instance, there’s the character of Cincinnati, who is Monica’s son and Denver’s stepson. He is Arturo’s real son, who does not hesitate to use this knowledge to his benefit when the time comes in the Bank of Spain heist. His name, like the gang of robbers’, is after a city and is meant to be a tribute to them. With such a name, it seems the plot is already set for a spin-off on him!
Then there’s also the character of Rio, who although not a child technically, is still very young. The complex character deserves a story focusing solely on his life. As you can see, there are no limits to the spin-off possibilities! If only Netflix could hear us and speed up the process!!
