We knew Saul Goodman–Do we know Kim Wexler?
While discussing Kim Wexler’s unexpected arc in Season 5 of Better Call Saul, Bob Odenkirk said how we always knew the path of Jimmy but never knew Kim’s path.
He said:
“The mystery at the start of the show was who is Saul Goodman?”
“We met this Jimmy McGill character, got to know many sides of him, and saw him evolve into Saul”. Odenkirk on how the show witnessed the journey of Jimmy to Saul, whom we already knew from Better Call Saul.
He continued: “This year he saw the stakes of that choice. He sees that it is life or death, this choice, played the way he played it.”
“Now the mystery is who is Kim?” said Bob while claiming that we never knew Kim as we knew Saul.
What happened to Kim?
Because we never saw Kim Wexler in Breaking Bad, fans always knew that one way or the other, the creators would be done with her.
However, as Kim drove the show equally, sometimes even better, it complicated the mystery of her absence from Breaking Bad further. After being almost the perfect lawyer for four seasons, and the next perfect companion to Jimmy (first, of course, being his alter ego Saul), Kim snapped the spotlight with the masterful performance and burst of grey traits in Season 5.
As Bob Odenkirk said, we could admit we knew nothing about Kim Wexler in Better Call Saul till now.
From being the bearer of damage done by Saul en-route his ambitions to sidelining Saul and becoming a ‘professional’ version of him, fans saw an unexpected arc of Kim.
Though what she’s up to is still behind the curtains, and what will happen with her is also only speculations. But fans are damn sure Season 6 is not going begin with the Kim we thought we knew.
