How is Jim Hopper alive and is in Russia in Stranger Things Season 4?
Though it was a sight to gaze at when the Teaser for Stranger Things 4 revealed our Hopper. Fans were mesmerized to see his slaying glance again, and indeed his bald look added to the intensity of the Russian hymns playing in the background.
But the question remains, how is Hopper alive in Stranger Things 4 and that too in Russia?
Hopper probably got sucked into Upside Down in Stranger Things 3
We all know how Hopper supposedly died in the climax of Stranger Things 3. He was exposed to the eruption that took place when Joyce switched off the machine to close the Gate. But what if he didn’t actually die there? Hopper is alive and that too in Russia seeds some doubts in our head and one of the logical answers to those doubts resides in Upside Down. It’s possible that when Joyce closed the Gate, and the explosion took place, Hopper due to standing close to the Gate got sucked into Upside Down. And that’s how he is still alive.
There could be Another Gate to Upside Down in Russia
Even if we consider the various claims through which Hopper could be alive in Stranger Things 4, still the fact that he’s in Russia, thousands of miles from Hawkins, seems a little strange. But if we consider the possibility of Hopper being alive because he got sucked into Upside Down before the explosion, the fact of him being with Russians makes sense. How? Well, in the mid-credit scene of Stranger Things 3, we saw a Demogorgon in a Russian prison.
That could possibly mean that Russians have managed access to the Upside Down. That access could either be through a Gate, or some new phenomenon. But in that case, we could evaluate that Hopper might have been sucked into Upside Down from the Gate in Hawkins, and he managed to get out from the Gate in Russia.
Hopper was abducted by Russians in Stranger Things Season 3
There’s another possibility that could make sense of the fact that Hopper is with Russians in Stranger Things 4. Beneath the Starcourt mall, where the entire Russian conspiracy was taking place, there was no one but Russians. Similarly, when Joyce and Hopper sneaked into the base to close the Gate, there were only Russians inside and no Americans.
The search party arrived long after the explosion that killed Hopper took place. What if, a few Russians survived that explosion, and so did Hopper. And well before the American authorities arrived, the Russians flew out, taking Hopper with them. That’s probably how Hopper ended up in Russia in Stranger Things 4.
There’s probably no other way through which Hopper could end up alive in Russia in Stranger things 4. Unless he had any pre-planned winter vacations in Russia. Tell us in comments if you can think of any other possibility.
