Could there be a reboot in the near future?
‘Breaking Bad’ ended with five seasons in 2013. Since then, Vince Galligan has managed to entertain his audience with ‘Better Call Saul’, a prequel, and a movie titled ‘El Camino’. 7 years on, the speculations of a new season or a reboot continues to be the most common topic of discussion among fans.
“@BreakingBad_AMC rumours of season 6 are doing rounds on the internet. Please give us an official confirmation on it”, tweeted a fan.
“@aaronpaul_8 @BryanCranston I’m gonna need confirmation on ‘Breaking Bad’ season 6 stat”, tweeted another.
There are quite a few reasons why the show should be renewed for a season 6. To begin with, the plot holes that have been unexpectedly created have not yet been resolved.
Fans hope that a reboot will answer their questions on what happened to Huell after he was asked to stay at the safe house. Similarly, what did Flynn do with the 9 million dollars that his father saved for him before he died? Meanwhile, how did Walter White never choose another career path even though he had several degrees in hand?
No official confirmation from the showrunner has made fans believe that AMC might not reboot the show after all. However, now that Netflix has acquired streaming rights over ‘Breaking Bad’, ‘Better Call Saul’, and the BB movie, ‘El Camino’, it is safe to say that Netflix could possibly reboot the show.
When will Netflix reboot the show?
In 2019, Vince Galligan confirmed that the ‘Breaking Bad’ movie, starring Aaron Paul, had been secretly in the making since 2018 and was ready to be released soon. Fans were beyond ecstatic upon hearing the news. Meanwhile, it was also confirmed that the movie would be first released on Netflix and later, on AMC.

Vince Gilligan Should Use This Time To Write A Sequel To El Camino: Breaking Bad The Movie
With Netflix having a larger audience base, it will only make sense that the show is picked up by the OTT platform. But when exactly will that happen?
It took two years for Vince Galligan to release the prequel, and another four years to release the movie. So, if the showrunners were to follow that pattern, the reboot could possibly be released in either 2021 or 2023.
Why did AMC cancel ‘Breaking Bad’?
In a press conference, Gilligan explained why he decided to end the show after it was aired on TV for five years. “Y’know, as someone making money on the show, in very crass, basic terms, I would have loved for it to go on forever”.
“I looked up one day and realised that everybody else was watching something else entirely. I learned at that point: you don’t want to leave the party too late. You want to leave folks wanting more”, he added.
Now that we all know why the show really ended, do you think you would want a reboot? Do you think the new season will be made without Walter White? Let us know in the comment section below!
