Netflix is not impressed with the ratings and has decided that GLOW should end their journey now
GLOW, Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch’s Netflix drama-comedy show, has been renewed for a 4th season. It has also been declared as the show’s final one by Netflix, unfortunately for the fans.

The show debuted in 2017 with a 10-episode first season. The fourth and final season was ordered by the streaming company in September last year. The storyline revolves around the lives and adventures of a group of women who form a women’s wrestling league in the 1980s. They call it the “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling” and it was founded by David McLane. Netflix has stated that the reason for cancellation of the show was its unimpressive ratings.
What can fans expect from season 4 of GLOW?
In season 3, we saw the ladies move shop to Las Vegas. This was a move for the better as the show got seriously compelling while still retaining its hilarious shindigs. Fans would be surprised to find out that GLOW is based on a real wrestling promotion organisation of the same name that existed in the 1980s. It all starts in 1985, when Ruth Wilder, an aspiring actress in Los Angeles auditions to be a part of the ‘Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling’ or simply ‘GLOW’. As for the plot of the show, nothing much has been revealed officially.
Last year, Netflix posted about it on their official YouTube channel after renewing the show. In an interview with a leading Hollywood magazine, show star Kate Nash said, “God, I hope (season 4 happens). I hope so, I think (there is) definitely more story to tell. I think it’s our best season yet and it would be so amazing to continue to grow these characters and tell their stories. They are all so fascinating and there is just so much to tell. I think this season opened up all these details.”
Why was the show cancelled?
Netflix’s decisions regarding renewing its shows are not that clear cut and straightforward. They use several metrics such as production cost, ratings, average reviews, viewership per episode and much more before ordering new seasons of a show. In case of GLOW, the stars simply did not align in favour of its continuations. Netflix has declared that the fourth season will be GLOW’s final and that they did not want to renew it further due to the show’s lackluster and low ratings despite featuring several high-tier celebrities in the cast, such as Alison Brie. The fans of the show are disappointed as GLOW was one of the most diverse, inclusive and woman-centric shows that was also very creative and fun to watch. The show has received a 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
What has been the story so far?
In season 3 we saw Ruth Wilder (played by Alison Brie) move shop and head towards Las Vegas. The ladies set shop in Las Vegas and began organising and marketing their wrestling league to garner public attention. Ruth can be seen getting along with Sylvia who was very cold and unapproachable towards her initially due to their personal history together.
When will season 4 of GLOW come out?
If not for the present shutdowns, GLOW season 4 could have come out this very year. However, this no longer seems like a possibility. No official release date has been declared by Netflix. The fourth season will, in all likeness, drop in next year 2021.
What will be the cast in season 4?
The show’s cast will definitely return for the final season, some of the names being Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Britney Young, Marc Maron, Britt Baron, Kate Nash, Gayle Rankin, Kia Stevens, Jackie Tohn, Chris Lowell and many more.
