What happens in ‘Legacies’?
‘Legacies’ has given fans of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Originals’ yet another incredible spin-off series that brings back Mystic Falls! The series follows the events in the aftermath of ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and is led by Hope, the daughter of Klaus. She has descended from a powerful bloodline of vampires, werewolves, and witches and is seen attending a new school. Alaric and Caroline turn the Salvatore House into a school for supernatural beings, where they learn to control their abilities.

17-year-old Hope along with Alaric and Caroline’s twin daughters Josie and Lizzie attend the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted. It follows a newer generation of Mystic Falls’ vampires, werewolves, and witches, who fight to protect their secret and their town. The highschool supernatural series is a fresh perspective since the original and does well in keeping its legacy alive.
Will any of the Vampire Diaries cast members to return to make an appearance?
Throughout the first two seasons, viewers have seen old characters from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ and ‘The Originals’ revisit ‘Legacies’. Matt Donovan aka Zach Roerig from ‘The Vampire Diaries’ appears in the spin-off and rightly so. He did after all survive eight seasons worth traumatic events and still manage to remain human.
Matt is the town sheriff in ‘Legacies’ and investigates the disappearance of teens and eventually becomes Mayor. It’s great to see a familiar face on the show as it had been a long time since fans saw Matt! Albeit a small cameo, Jeremy Gilbert (Steven R. McQueen) makes an appearance in the first season too. He is revealed to work for Alaric Saltzman at times. Kai, the ousted member of the Gemini coven, returns to betray the newer generation of supernaturals before meeting his end.
‘Legacies’ Season 3 premiere date is set

Showrunner Julie Plec even wrote a musical episode for the series, which season 2 was unable to air. There hasn’t been an update on whether the musical one-off will premiere along with the third season, but fans hope to see it soon.
‘Legacies’ Season 3 will bring back the world of Mystic Falls to The CW from January 21, 2020. Until then, we’ll be waiting to hear about more updates! Are you excited to see ‘Legacies’ Season 3? Let us know in the comments.
