The hoopla around ‘Glee’ reboot
The ‘Glee’ project by far has 6 seasons. Just like the fans, former ‘Glee’ star Jane Lynch expressed the desire to see the TV series rebooted with a whole new cast and a different high school setting. Jane played former Cheerios coach turned principal of McKinley High, Sue Sylvester. She hopes to see the famous teen series in a new avatar.
The show ended its run in 2015. Since then, it has been marred by tragedy and controversy. Cory Monteith, one of the series star, died tragically of a heroin overdose just before the cast was to begin shooting season 5.
Moreover, former cast member Mark Salling killed himself around the end of January, weeks before he was due to be sentenced in the child pornography case.
With all this tragedy, fans are hoping that the show can make a fresh start with a ‘Glee’ spin-off. There was also a ‘Glee’ reunion of the cast in April 2020, to raise money for charity. We can only hope that this ‘Glee’ reunion led to some discussions about a ‘Glee’ spin-off.
‘Glee’ is one of the most unique, popular, and highly rated shows of its times. Ryan Murphy tackled LGBTQ rights, disabilities, bullying, teen pregnancy, alcohol abuse, texting while driving, school shootings, suicide, and domestic violence, through this show, during its 6 season run.
We need a ‘Glee’ reboot because all these issues are still relevant for teens today, some even more so now? A ‘Glee’ spin-off is a must precisely for this reason.
‘Glee’ had a bunch of talented actors who were unknown at that time but had people tuning in week after week for social commentary and catchy musical numbers. It launched the careers of Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, etc.
We also saw Gwyneth Paltrow, Katie Couric, and Neil Patrick Harris making guest appearances on the show.
Fans want ‘Glee’ to be re-scripted and rebooted with a new setting and cast. The recent ‘Glee’ reunion has left fans hopeful. The ‘Glee’ project has had 6 seasons and there is certainly space for more. Let’s hear what the boss Ryan Murphy has to say about the reboot.

Ryan Murphy joins in for ‘Glee’ reboot dream casting
In May 2020, Ryan Murphy wrote that there was an image of ‘Glee’, photo-shopped with famous actors of today. Murphy was impressed with the fan’s idea and joined in the process of dream casting for ‘Glee’. In the new casting for the reboot version of ‘Glee’, Brad Pitt is to play ‘Glee’ club director Will Schuester, and his ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ co-star Margot Robbie will play Quinn Fabray (played by Dianna Agron in the original show).
Cheerful and hot Zendaya will live her real personality by playing cheerleader Mercedes. Charles Melton, Emma Stone, Tom Holland, Robert Pattinson, Ansel Elgort, and Laura Harrier also found their place in the new ‘Glee’. Ryan Murphy also joined in and reimagined ‘Glee’ with two other hot actors of the moment — Beanie Feldstein and Ben Platt.
What Ryan wrote on Instagram ran the fans into frenzy mode. That one sentence was a hint enough for the fans to cheer for ‘Glee’ happening again with new cast and setting. “I WANT TO SHOOT THIS DO OVER PILOT. Maybe I will?” he teased on Instagram.
‘Glee’ reboots with new high school setting with ‘Teen Wolf’s’ Tyler Posey
It is now rumoured that Tyler Posey of ‘Teen Wolf’ fame has found his place in the reboot of the iconic series. According to unconfirmed sources, Tyler is seen as a perfect choice for the high school drama.
The casting for the ‘Glee’ spin-off is kept under wraps for the publicity of the show. Neither Tyler Posey nor Ryan Murphy has commented on Tyler Posey’s casting in the reboot of ‘Glee’.
Ryan hasn’t officially announced the reboot of ‘Glee’ itself. So all these might just be theories by fans of the show. As such, we don’t have a ‘Glee’ Season 7 release date as of yet.
One should keep writing fan-theories around the ‘Glee’ reboot, and hoping for a certain ‘Glee’ Season 7 release date. Who knows, Ryan Murphy may get serious and take up the idea of a renewed version of ‘Glee’ in today’s setting. What do you think? Share your ideas in the comments box below.
Why was ‘Glee’ Season 6 so short?
‘Glee’ was already an aging show after its first few seasons, but beyond narrative hiccups and a dwindling audience, the passing of a lead actor may have hastened the show’s end.
When ‘Glee’ returned for its fifth season in September 2013, it did so without star Cory Monteith, who had died from an apparently accidental heroin and alcohol overdose on July 13, 2013 (via BBC). During one point in that season — the very first ‘Glee’ season without Monteith — viewership fell below three million viewers. That was down from the series’ tribute episode to the actor and his character, entitled “The Quarterback”, which brought in 7.4 million total live viewers when it aired in October 2013.
Is Justin Bieber in ‘Glee’?
Yes, Justin Bieber was in Glee season 4 along with Britney Spears and Lady Gaga.
Is there gonna be a ‘Glee’ reunion?
Since the show came to an end in 2015, fans have been wanting the ‘Glee’ club back on television. However, it doesn’t seem like this is going to happen any time soon as Morrison doesn’t believe the series should return.
