Sonali Chandra, an Indian American dancer, model, and comedian, is a 35-year-old virgin, which she first revealed on “The Dr. Phil Show,” and the star of Lifetime’s reality dating show “Five Guys a Week” (episode premieres on September 21). On the show, she discusses her dating experiences, her perspective on Indian culture, traditional holidays, dating norms, and expectations, thoughts on the societal pressures of sex.
In the provocative new social experiment “Five Guys a Week” on Lifetime, a daring single woman invites five eligible bachelors to move in with her for a week to discover who is “The One.” These men will have to be on their best behaviour to avoid missing out on the chance to find true love while sharing a bathroom and doing the housekeeping.
The week’s laughter, drama, and shocking twists will all be captured 24/7 by more than 20 cameras, giving viewers a front-row view. The romance is, ultimately, the most important. Our leading lady will seek her friends and family for advice as she eliminates one man at a time, but in the end, she will pick which man wins her heart.
Indian parents brought up Sonali Chandra in New Jersey where she was born and raised. Sonali first learned Indian classical dance as a young child. She became interested in Bollywood fusion and Western choreography as she grew older. Sonali’s classical training proved to be an excellent foundation for all other dance styles. As a cashier at McDonald’s during her high school years, she gained valuable money management skills and the mantra “every penny counts.” Sonali attended Rutgers Business School in New Jersey after high school and received a finance degree when she was 22 years old. She previously worked in the corporate finance and real estate sectors in NYC.
Sonali participated on the game show “Funny You Should Ask” at the start of 2020, and she has also appeared on “The Price is Right.” In December 2020, she featured on “The Dr. Phil Show” to discuss her confusion about why the men she dates break up with her after learning that she is a virgin. Sonali was prohibited from socialising as a child, which prevented her from going to prom, having sleepovers, dating, or living on campus. She refused to let her parents arrange her marriage after she received her college degree, as is customary in her society. At age 26, she endured her first kiss; she remains virgin.
