- When does it premiere?
- Season 3 will be the final season.
After several months of wait, Netflix finally has good news for Lost in Space fans. However, there is some bad news as well. The first fans had to wait for over half a century to get a worthy adaptation of this family space adventure. Now, as we have it, its future worries us.
Netflix renews Lost in Space for season 3.
It took Netflix a couple of months to renew Lost in Space for a season 3. Fans were speculating about the reasons behind the presumed cancellation. However, on March 9, 2020, Variety confirmed that the show will be coming back with a third season.
However, dark clouds still loom over the show’s future. The renewal announcement came just a few days before the pandemic broke out, which resulted in months of production restriction.
Due to the loss that studios had to bear and the time crunch, several studios have cancelled various shows. Fans are automatically concerned about the future of Lost in Space, as there have not been any updates from Netflix after the renewal confirmation.
When does season 3 premiere?
Netflix has announced the renewal of season 3, but there has been no update on the date till now.
Season 3 was originally expected to premiere in mid-2021. However, due to the delay in production and filming, next year’s release seems next to impossible.
Netflix hasn’t shared any update on the commencement of the show’s filming yet. Thus, it seems like season 3 might see a late 2021 or early 2022 release.
Season 3 will be the final treat
Yes! There is your bad news. Even after the first two seasons were successful financially and loved by the fans, Netflix is going to end Lost in Space after season 3.
With the announcement of season 3’s renewal, Netflix also announced that this will be the last. Fans have been enraged by the announcement. However, show-runner Zack Estrin revealed that the show was always meant to end in three seasons.
He said, “From the beginning, we’ve always viewed this particular story of The Robinsons as a trilogy: a three-part epic family adventure with a clear beginning, middle, and end.”
It’s quite evident that after three failed attempts to adapt 1812 novel The Swiss Family Robinson for over half a century, fans rejoiced this worthy adaptation. And the news of it ending after only three seasons is indeed heartbreaking.
There’s no confirmation regarding the plot of season 3, however, we can expect most of the star cast to return — Molly Parker as Maureen Robinson, Toby Stephens as John Robinson, Maxwell Jenkins as Will Robinson, Taylor Russell as Judy Robinson, Mina Sundwall as Penny Robinson, Ignacio Serricchio as Don West, Parker Posey as June Harris / Dr. Smith, Brian Steele as the Robot.
