Although Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed the fate of the popular Spanish-language original ‘Élite’ just yet, rumours are rife that seasons four and five are being filmed in a row.

This might not come across as a surprise to many because it looks like the upcoming seasons are following the footsteps of ‘Élite’ seasons two and three that were released before. But let us tell you that this might not be the only surprise in the bag for the show’s viewers. The new seasons might introduce fans to new characters.

What is ‘Élite’ all about?
For those who don’t partake, ‘Élite’ is based on a fictitious and exclusive boarding school in Spain known as Las Encinas. This school of elites, has majorly two kinds of students, first, the ones who got enrolled through scholarships and secondly, the insanely wealthy ones.
The seasons revolve majorly around the lives of the teens and their struggles with more progressive issues for the most part. But because of the constant tug of war between class and culture, which sparks endless confrontations between the students, it eventually leads to murder.
Cast for ‘Élite’ season 4
In the previous instalment, we saw some of the characters graduate. This means that we will be seeing new characters alongside the old ones. The cast announced the show’s renewal news via a video on Twitter.
“It’s official, we’ll be back for season 4”, the tweet read. Season 3 of the series, which is one of the streamer’s best performing Spanish originals, premiered on the streaming platform over two months ago and became an overnight hit. According to Netflix, last year, the show was seen by more than 20 million households.

Itzan Escamilla as Samuel Garcia Domínguez (seen in ‘Cable Girls’), Miguel Bernardeau as Guzmán Nunier Osuna (seen in ‘It’s For Your Own Good’), Omar Ayuso as Omar Shanaa (seen in ‘8 Años’) and Claudia Salas as Rebeca (seen in ‘La Peste’ aka ‘The Plague’) will be reprising their roles.
A leading entertainment portal confirmed that Mina El Hammani, Danna Paola, Ester Expósito, Álvaro Rico, and Jorge López have revealed that they were leaving the show and will not feature in the upcoming season.
However, we never know when or if we will see them making a cameo ever again. Also, as of now, no other name has been released for season four.
What can we expect from Season 4?

In the third season, we finally found that Polo Villada was killed by Lucrecia and how everyone had helped her cover the murder. However, in the fourth instalment, fans can expect to see more about the new characters as many of the old characters are now gone. We might see how everything impacts the characters that are left back in the show, and how their journey takes place in the fourth year while in Las Encinas.
But, we don’t know if any of the old characters will come back to make a cameo. As of now, no confirmation for the plot is given and fans are still waiting for the makers to release an official synopsis for the upcoming season.
When can we expect ‘Élite’ season 4 to premiere?
In May this year, Netflix officially announced that ‘Élite’ has been renewed for season 4. The first instalment aired in October 2018, the second premiered in September 2019, and the third season released in March 2020. This means that the show has been dropping its new seasons in no fixed month of the year.
At this point in time, the release date is unclear as the production is halted due to the on-going health crisis which has crippled the world. If everything goes well, and the show resumes the production soon, then we can expect ‘Élite’ Season 4 to come out in early 2021 hopefully. Fans will just have to wait for an announcement from the showrunners.
How many episodes will season 4 carry?
In each and every instalment, we have watched 8 episodes. So it’s fair to expect the same number of episodes in season 4 as well. Although the chances of any changes are slim, we will update you when that happens.
