Jake Peralta and Amy Santiago are detectives in the 99th precinct. They share a competitive relationship always trying to one-up the other. As the series proceeds, their enmity turns into friendship which develops into a romantic one. The duo started out as work frenemies, now they are happily married. Though they often quarrel, make fun of each other and play pranks on each other. However, they have mutual respect and share a compatible friendship.

The Halloween Heist is a mandatory yearly tradition for the squad. They all want the chance to prove they’re the best. It all started with Jake and Captain Holt. Meanwhile, the entire squad wants to win. In fact, Amy tricks everyone and wins in season 3. She plans on winning again the following year and will do whatever it takes to beat Jake. But it turns out that Jake has different plans this time. Instead of planting against the heist, Jake proposes to Amy at the end. One true beautiful moment!

In season 1, They both break a deal to check who makes the most arrests by the end of this year. If Amy wins, she gets Jake’s close-to-his-heart car. And, if Jake wins he gets to take Amy on the worst date ever. Nevertheless, Jake wins and he plans the worst date ever for her. Jake is in complete denial of his feelings for Amy. But at the end of the date, he realizes he likes her. This is where it all starts to brew!
Their relationship isn’t all that defines them

Evidently, what defines Jake and Amy is much more than their relationship. They may be madly in love but the show necessarily does not focus on that.
