With other teen dramas like ‘Beverly Hills’, ‘90210’, and ‘The Hills’, all set to begin work on their modern-day revivals, fans of ‘Dawson’s Creek’ are wondering if they’ll get to see the old gang back together again!
Will ‘Dawson’s Creek’ fans get a chance to see the old gang get back together in Capeside? That’s a question the cast gets asked all the time. Starring James Van Der Beek (Dawson), Michelle Williams (Jen), Katie Holmes (Joey), and Joshua Jackson (Pacey), ‘Dawson’s Creek’ followed the lives of best-friends Dawson and Joey, who go through different stages of their teenage years together. As the show progresses, their friendship is put to a test when they get into relationships with different people.

The massively popular teen drama Dawson’s Creek came to an end with its sixth season in 2003, when we last saw our favourite characters leaving their teenage years behind and entering adulthood. The series was revolutionizing in placing the network at the forefront of American pop-culture.
Along with a stellar cast, Kevin Williamson’s voice, as the writer of the show, played a significant role in its success. The story was autobiographical and personal to him. Although he stopped working on the show after its second season, he made a come-back at the end of the series to write the two-hour finale that would bring the show to its end.
What the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ revival could hold
Rumours of a potential revival started to make rounds when the cast reunited in 2018, to shoot the cover for “Entertainment Weekly”.

While it would be incredibly nostalgic for fans to see where Dawson, Joey, and Pacey are today, a revival might not be a possibility because of how the series ended. It could tie loose-ends, like, we could always find out more about what happened to Amy, Jen’s daughter after she died in the crushing finale. We could also learn more about Dawson’s directorial debut with his life-long idol Steven Spielberg, and Pacey and Joey’s happily ever after in New York City. When asked if a revival is in the making, Katie Holmes explained to the Australian radio show, Fitzy and Wippa,
“I don’t know. I mean we had a reunion for a photoshoot about two years ago which was great fun and we all keep in touch. We all get asked that quite often which is so flattering, cause we had such a great time making the show and it meant a lot to us at the time that we were making it and obviously still we have such fond memories.”
“It’s amazing and quite surreal to be part of something that has affected people all over the world and it’s exciting that people are watching it again, so I think we all feel so blessed”, she added.
With Holmes not giving much to fans, they’ll just have to wait and see if the show’s creator Kevin Williamson will be interested in bringing the characters back to life. Take a peek at where the ‘Dawson’s Creek’ cast is now!
Kevin Williamson reveals where the characters ended up in the future
Celebrating 20 years since the show debuted, in 2018, Kevin Williamson revealed to “The Hollywood Reporter” as to where the characters had ended in the future. As we last saw them, Pacey and Joey were a happy couple and Dawson eventually made peace with it. He then headed to Hollywood to work on his dream project, a Spielberg film.
He talked about where the characters are since fans last saw them and believes that Dawson is still friends with Joey and Pacey, who are “very much still together and have kids”.
“I think they’re still best friends”, he said. “I don’t think they see enough of each other and they really wish they could. I think that they probably text each other a lot”.
Katie Holmes still has fond memories of the ground-breaking show
While James Van Der Beek (Dawson) gave his perspective on the idea of a revival, “It would have to be a reinvention of sorts”, Katie Holmes continues to fondly remember the series just as it was.
“It existed at a time pre-social media, pre-internet, and it was nostalgic when we were shooting it. So, I really like it where it is, to be honest.”
Kevin Williamson added that perhaps it’s best left where it ended, though he’d be excited if someone else worked on the show’s revival.
